On politics I appreciate that Funhaus hasn't made any attempts to influence the audience's opinion one way or the other. I tend to lean conservative/libertarian, but I try my best to consume political content from both sides. On which way each individual FH member leans I can guess, but personally it is really none of my business. I early voted in Arkansas (which is probably as safe a state for Trump come November 8th as any in the Union at this point) and called it done. Who did I vote for? Does not matter. At this point my vote for president counts less than the vote I cast in the AR GOP  primary for Ted Cruz (spoiler Ted Cruz lost Arkansas and did not get the GOP nomination). This is my third election I've voted in, and I am just glad the end of this circus nightmare is in sight. Of course we still have to survive a Clinton or Trump presidency (since there is no constitutional provision for a presidential mulligan....unless the improbable happens and McMullen gets Utah and Clinton falls short of 270 electoral college votes), but either way it isn't the end of the world. In all fairness we have had worse leaders than both before. Trick is we weren't the only global superpower at the time. It may be a bumpy ride, but at least they can't take my netflix and steam account away (I hope).

On slavery still existing I thought you were going to head towards an interesting topic. There is an argument to be made that working class persons are slaves to their corporation (like Shadowrun). There is of course freedom to move laterally and vertically in the job market via experience training etc. The possibility of mobility at least defeats that corporations practice chattel slavery (born a slave to slaves therefore you are forever a slave). At any rate in all secular Western nations slavery is at least illegal (on paper). However, the further you get from first world countries the more likely for slavery to either still be either legal, or illegal and in practice in areas without strong central government control. Terror groups like ISIS and Boko Haram still gather up women and children as concubines. What is worse is that conservative Salafist/Wahhabist Clerics and Muslim Brotherhood scholars have recently proposed resurrecting the practice. Africa as a continent still has a thriving slave trade that is de facto if not de jure. The last estimate I could find is that human trafficking is a 32 billion dollar industry worldwide. For comparison the videogame industry in the US was worth a little over 20 billion.

    Food for thought.

    Also black mirror spoilercast plox.

I thought the point Adam made about pop culture almost becoming a new religion is really interesting. I feel like everyone (for lack of a better term) "worships" something, technology, movies, video games ect... I think people like to put their identity in something. I don't know if this is good or bad (probably somewhere in between), but when that identity is threatened they freak out (like with No Man's Sky). Regardless, human behavior is fascinating. I love your content especially when you get to fun topics like this. Keep up the good work.

The reason someone can be in poverty and still have nice things like a flat screen tv or an iphone is because all their assets are liquid. they have little to no savings. it's easy to buy things that bring instant pleasure when you have no other way to change your life.

Plus there are other circumstances. I knew a lady who had an amazing life. Great husband, stay at home mom, 5 kids, and beautiful house. The husband suddenly passed away and she lost everything. They were living in a 2 bedroom apartment BUT had a bunch of clothes and electronics. They were from BEFORE her husband died.

You should watch "How TV ruined your life," it's one of Charlie Brooker's older shows in which he explores the ways that TV and the media have distorted our ideas about reality. It's a documentary series but it's pretty clear that a lot of the ideas he discusses there were used in his episodes of Black Mirror.

If you really want more there's also Brooker's "Screenwipe" but a lot of the shows he talks about in that are fairly irrelevant now.

It is.  But these guys seem to be globalists (not using it in a positive or negative way), because of an international audience.  Yes it is good for the world, and there are certain parts that are bad for us. However, there are parts that require other signatories to honor US copyright/patent laws that potentially protect our corporations.

But as far as the average worker in the US goes?  Yeah, it is harmful.

James, they absolutely made that golf game for WiiU. I have played it. That IS how it works, too, where you put the gamepad on the floor and the ball is on the ground and reacts to the way you're holding the wiimote.

Do you think overheating will become a problem for the Switch tablet? It's small and it has the processing power for running Skyrim or NBA 2KWhatever, and if it supports fast charging, that thing will heat up. Battery life will be awful that's pretty much a given, but I haven't seen anybody wonder about heat when it has been pointed as a problem for massive-ass consoles in the past.

Lawrence said that "piracy tanked it [the Vita] pretty quick... they cracked the nut on the Vita pretty fast", but Vita piracy only came along this year, around late August. I'm not saying that piracy didn't kill the Vita, but the Vita had been dead for some time before piracy.

    • readalot FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

True, it wan't piracy that killed the vita it was Sony and their refusal to lower the price of the memory.

    • LionRahl

No support and piss-poor marketing killed the Vita. No-one outside of japan cared and it stayed that way.

We upload the podcast ASAP using our live-to-tape volume. Then we re-upload it after we've done some volume leveling. It'll be a little quiet for the first 12 hours or so after it goes up, then it should improve.

I'm basically binge watching season 3 cause they'll talk about one episode and I'm like shit I should watch that real quick, then unpause it. Episode 2's (SPOILERS) triple fake out was a little annoying, kinda wish they would have just stuck with the /he went home and his mother had Alzheimer/ because you're like well ok the phone went off in the white room as they started and interfered with the process sure, but his mind made up the test game going well, then made up them going to the house, etc? Still really good though.

There're totally apps where you rate human beings, thankfully most of them fail. I worked on the mobile portion of an app where you rated ex-lovers,ex-employers, or anyone else and it was pretty much the spawn of satan. Thank god it failed within it's first year, people are better than businesses want them to be.
