I forgot that Bryan Cranston was a racist in that episode. I know that a lot of critics call it one of the best episodes of X-Files.

I want VR to get to the point like where its like Sword Art Online, I would pay for that.

The main thing I take away from this episode is the grapple in Windlands needs a longer range. It was really frustrating to see how many times there was nothing Adam could reach.

No one is "going to have the same experience as you", we're all different people who prefer different things. People at a cinema might not like a film but love it at home. Also, I hated mad max, boring as hell. Go from A, to B, back to A again.

There's also the fact that those who pirate might not necessarily go to a film in the first place. So it's not a lost sale in any way. I'm sure most don't do that, but there are those that do.

I think the real problem you are having is not actually paying attention to the content you're watching, like this for example. The portion of this podcast that focused on piracy was mostly satirical, making fun of how stupid the press release was.

I'm not sure you understand what satire is. They were having a serious conversation about it.

I'm definitely looking forward to trying out and developing for the official Oculus Rift, though I have the advantage of being part of the Kickstarter initially, so I should be getting a free version of the Rift during the first shipment (I will need to still upgrade my current PC rig to support it, but that's not unexpected given the much higher resolution compared to the DK1 and DK2).

AR has the potential to be extremely awesome as well, although I feel that's the perfect complement to VR, versus an opposing tech. Hopefully in the future we'll have a single device that can seamlessly transition between both, so virtual objects are just as real in our world as simulated real objects are in the virtual world.

Blue sky thinking aside, the HoloLens is currently $3,000 (admittedly it's only meant for dev testing at this point), so that'll need to drop significantly as well before it becomes an average consumer product.

The ideal of VR for me is the immersion in a world. In smaller scale I get a taste of that with Track IR in ArmA and driving games (F1, Grid and DIrt for example). There is a HUGE amount of depth to a game like that when you can actually lean around corners and also look around freely like you would in real life. It lends itself to giving you a means to understand your space, your actual body in the world and in turn a much better spacial awareness. The only downside for Track IR is that you must keep your eyes foward to the screen. Where the downside for me on VR is that you can't look at the real world when needed to see where your hands are.

The perfect system like shown in Sword Art Online, where you are the controller and you feel and interact naturally is the next step. I'd love to get in on the development side and build a world for that kind of tactile game play. Perhaps augmented reality is the best option or a mix of both, where your real world is made virtual and you can still interact with it but see it as the world you are in.

In regards to Ready Player One, I won't say it was a well written book. But like Adam is so fond of saying "I just enjoyed it. I'm old enough now where I can just enjoy things and not be overly critical"

I have always been someone who has thought piracy does not harm the sale of goods. It's a stupid logic that companies will blame external forces for their own inability to move with the times. Knowing when they are not making content worth buying or watching in the CInema. Blaming poor sales and lulls on piracy. Yet the stats and over all view I have learned is that Piracy is a gateway to people wanting more great content and make them far more open to paying for something they actually view as worth the value. The more people are hooked on watching films, tv shows and games the more they want to consome and a by product is the more of their own money they will spend on it.

Smart companies will see a market that is willing to consume content. Then create a solution to best serve them and in turn earn the money they want to get for their IP.

To build on your point, most if not all the people who work on movies and tv are in unions, so even if it was a facter, they'd be fairly safe.
