Lawrence is right, direct to consumer businesses like Blue Apron and MVMT are absolutely contributing to reducing employment. It's pretty funny that they sponsored this epidode.

The only issue I have with how youtube is handling the ad issue is that it is hurting creators like Rob Dyke, Cayleigh Elise, Skallagrim, and many more like them on the grounds that their macabre stories or look at the darker side of history(Rob Dyke, Cayleigh) or testing and showcasing various historical weapons (Skallagrim) is not family friendly content and should be included with the hateful creators. Once again great episode Funhaus!

I tried Sonic a few days ago and it was nearly impossible. Not particularly excited. Couldn't even get past 1:3 because you easily fall off the platforms when you fight Robotnik. It's nearly impossible to see where you're going with your thumbs on the screen.... It's just, how do I say this? Not good?

Nintendo is a lot like DC Comics.

Both have things I have a real interest in and I am definitely in favor of more than the competition. But they are so set in their ways that it is really hard sometimes to defend them. For Nintendo it's sticking to the old ways and not implements some things like their competitors (like better online play, better release schedule). While DC Comics are INCREDIBLY slow in publishing trades of their stories and their continuity has been a clusterfuck as of late.

With both though I have to say: their competition is doing shit right now. PS4/Xbox care more about being "entertainment systems" (focus on streaming, VR, other gimmick heavy items, etc) and Marvel Comics is just fucking terrible right now (and their movies are starting to bore me so I pick and choose what to watch).

Nintendo is sometimes tough to love but when they deliver they are totally satisfying.

So as someone in software development, an experienced QA team is invaluable. QA is way more than just playing a game and pointing out this thing is broke. It's learning and testing each and every feature. It's being able to plan that out and be very meticulous. A lot of software's end up with issues because they don't have any experienced QA leadership. They cheap out on it and just get a fresh team. In my experience, the best have enough technical and business knowledge to properly test and lead a team in testing the software. The leadership comes from people who work their way up and learn from those above them.

The "Minecraft model" may work for indie games, but not for the majority of software development. For the number of issues you find in your various OS's or app's or programs, I guarantee there are dozens or hundreds of bugs (depending on the size and complexity) that you don't see that was discovered by QA by some team lead or senior QA analyst.

Here's my concern with the mini SNES. It has my three favorite games on it, which has me worried that they will not be on the Switch VC (if there is a VC on Switch), in order to push the mini SNES. I don't have high hopes for the Nintendo online service to have a bunch of games to play.

Rereleasing old games started with Yamauchi and the gameboy. Backwards compatibility was hard but as the technology advanced they realized they could resell classic games to make them portable and they sold like crazy. So now they do it because fuck it, you'll buy it. Thing is these plug 'n play consoles should be fun little things for people who don't want a switch like the old plug 'n play consoles. I might actually repurchase these to make them accessible and on the go with a switch, but I'd want them for like 99 cents for NES and 2.99 for SNES.

Adam's argument about emulators surprised me, because it seemed very much to be in favor of piracy. Haven't they previously spoken at length about how they oppose that? I wish I watched live because I would have asked on the post show.

If they were going to port Smash 4 to the switch they would have announced it at E3 this year. There has been a new Smash game for every Nintendo home console since n64 and usually it comes out a couple years after the console does (with the exception of Melee) and I don't see any reason for this to change as it's one of their best selling franchises. On top of this Nintendo will have a whole generation of new games of their classic ips to model a new Smash after. (Zelda, Mario, Meroid, Yoshi, Kirby, to name a few) I'm guessing it won't be until 2019/2020 but I have very little doubt that it will happen.

Surprised that Lawrence decided to spotlight a rape fantasy community on hard netting. He mentioned women choosing to put on the chip....guessing that was a joke since that's not at all how that fantasy works. Wonder if somehow he didn't realize what it was....not offended just surprised that he decided to go to such a dark corner.

I think they've been pretty clear that Hard Nettin is supposed to be broad and all encompassing. This may have been pushing the limits a bit, but I'm not sure it's disturbing to the level that they shouldn't show it.

Due to the competition with apple, Nintendo is trying to cover their costs. This is why when ever you look you can only find a Nintendo Switch Bundle for preorder. It is their way of making the console more "expensive" by making you buy more stuff at one time. It helps the bottom line that way.

I know I would have much rather the exact same set of games for $80 on the switch. I really hope Nintendo isn't sacrificing the Virtual Console for products like SNES mini.

It is hard to think that Nintendo cares about its fans that much if it constantly seems like they are finding a new way to milk the fans.

I'm one again extreamly disappointed in Nintendo with the snes mini. Only 21!!! That's it! if the plug and play part is only gonna have 21 they need to have a slot for the actual games like Sega did because for 80 dollars 21 games is terrible.
