Inquisition was the first and last Dragon Age game I will play. Maybe its just that style of RPG, but the combat felt very lackluster, the world felt very empty, there wasnt a lot of discovering and exploring to do in the world, and the quests werent that interesting. I played through the whole base story and still didnt feel like I had a grasp on the game, and never felt like the game ever really started, it just felt like a very long introductory level.

If you like Baldur's Gate style RPG, I'd recommend giving Dragon Age: Origins a try. As the first game of the franchise, it has a completely different gameplay style than it's sequels as it was created off the heels of Bioware's D20 games (BG, SW:KOTOR) and is much closer in that style in terms of combat, NPC interactions, and world design.

Regarding Jamesroche's question on accomplishment and competitiveness:

At the core of his question JamesR is basing his self-confidence on whether or not he loses a game. He is basing his happiness on something that is certainly uncertain. He feels good about himself if he wins and poorly if he loses.

To those who are reading this comment: What do we base our self worth and mental health on? Are the foundations of who we are structurally sound? Do we base our wellness and self-confidence on relationships, our own strength, finances, our career?

What do you, the reader, find to be the strongest and most sure foundation for your self-worth/identity?

(are there any that give certain and 100% support?)

First post show viewing, so that's what happened to Fan Art.

On Battlefront 2, the single player is worth it, even though EA, Disney and Criterion should have stuck with the Imperial to First Order teased viewpoint in the trailers, it wasn't bad.  The multiplayer, from what I've played which isn't much due to being bounced out of EA's Battlefront 2 servers at least once per session, is just like the prior Battlefront with some changes, like classes and how star cards are acquired.  So overall, and despite "hate" from critics and a small but load subset of Battlefront players, it's worth the $60 dollars, or $80 if it unlocked all characters or $100 with a season pass, but that's all I would put forth.

I'm all in favor of having different price levels for different content levels, similar to what was said during the post show.  Or every Triple A developer/publisher should use the Rockstar model and have the initial $60 cost for a full 60+ hours of single player content ($1= 1 hour), and online/multiplayer is a free add on service with real money buys limited to in-game currency or cosmetic changes.  Plus, I do think that sticker price for games should be increased to $70 to $80 dollars, because they are usually worth it.

With all the controversy with sexual harassment in media lately, I've been thinking about my own situation. I work in retail. I had a manager who asked me out a couple of times.(once to the movies with her friends, and once to her place for dinner.) I declined. A while later she told me a story about babysitting her friend's baby, and how she stopped it from crying by pulling her breast out and let it suck on her nip. Seemed like at the time she was trying to turn me on about that somehow? IDK. but how should I have acted, and what would you have done in that situation? she was later transferred and I haven't heard anything from her since.

Should I pursue anything with the company, or just let it go? I also don't want to create an issue that may have already been passed. It's been maybe 2 years since this happened.

although it seems to be bothering me to this day

This just sounds like you reading into it. There's nothing inherently vulgar or obscene about breast feeding a baby so I don't think the company will or should take any steps to penalize your old manager.

Hey guys, thanks for reading my comment!

I was trying to keep my comment short so I think my point was probably lost in translation. Lawrence did a pretty good job of explaining on my behalf. The fact of the matter is, humans and animals in general are self serving by nature. The only exception to this rule is reproduction and carrying on the bloodline so to speak. That being said, truly selfless actions are few and far between. Something as simple as holding the door on the surface may seem like it's just the "right thing to do", but in reality you're doing it and telling yourself, "good job me. you did a nice thing". Whether or not you're self aware enough this is happening is another thing entirely. In the same vein as my original comment, that gratification might not necessarily be patting yourself on the back, but getting to make someone smile. At the end of the day we're all just working for that sweet sweet dopamine.

EDIT: Oh boy this is even less popular than the last one. Lol I'm no edgelord. This is some freshman philosophy class stuff. It's called psychological egoism. Like most things in philosophy there isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer.

I'm really trying to see your point here, but I don't think I can. I used to be at a point where I thought everyone was without a doubt, 100%, only in it for themselves. Now, as I've grown and experienced more, I think that only 99% of the time are people in it for themselves, but every situation is entirely contextual. As for holding a door open for someone, I think that's a socially engineered behavior. Personally, when I hold a door for someone, it's not because I want their spum down my throat, it's because it's a "normal" thing to do. Mind you, I'm not doing it for a sense of gratification towards normality either. I'll hold a door open for a dude (which I have no sexual or romantic attraction towards) just as quickly as I'll hold a door open for a beautiful woman. I'm not doing it for them or for myself, I'm simply doing it. I don't think there's any dopamine hit, or conversely, any sense of dissatisfaction that I took time out of my day to hold a door open for someone.

James Your knowledge of the Dragon Ball lore is on point, but let me expand it a little bit. Both Vegeta and Trunks got beyond standard Super Saiyan transformation and used the Ascended Super Saiyan (or Super Saiyan Second Grade), which made them more powerful than standard Super Saiyan, boosted their speed a little bit but drained their ki more rapidly and didn't allow any short term power boosts.

Now Trunks showed us Ultra Super Saiyan (or Super Saiyan Third Grade) after Vegeta was defeated to gain even more power. Sadly this state (while making him extremely muscular) drained his ki even faster and actually made him slower than a regular Super Saiyan. It turned out Vegeta also knew about this level, but he was aware of the downsides (incredible power is useless when you can't hit your opponent) so he never used it.

But both me and James would still go for Ultra, I mean just look at those muscles. Still waiting for a game where you can see him without a shirt in this state.

I found Lawrence's evaluation of being overly competitive due to feeling unwanted in the group fascinating.

I have recently been struggling with my own friend group issues in which I have begun to feel very unwanted. Being from small town Wisconsin, my friends are very into hunting and several months ago before the beginning of hunting season I began to feel more and more left out. My family always hunted, and I joined on occasion, but never held a weapon myself. Feeling fed up I made a bet that I would shoot something bigger than my friends in a desperate attempt to rejoin the group.

I did not end up shooting something bigger, and actually went on to feel more and more unwanted by my friends. They had adopted the phrase "Fall is for the boys" and I have since mentioned something to one of them the feelings I had and got the response "you just have to prove yourself."

I don't necessarily think that my competitiveness pushed me from the group, I think I resorted to it in order to feel like I still was part of the group. Mostly I think I'm left out due to my gender, since "Fall is for the boys" and all this has caused me to feel shitty about myself. I have started to avoid them because I realized I don't deserve to feel that way.

Long story short, you are worthy of people's friendship and shouldn't feel like you have to prove anything to spend time with them. If they don't want you around they aren't deserving of your friendship anyway.

amen to that. Also being competitive at hunting seems to me very heavily connected to "feeling satisfied with a successful killing" and that can't be a right thing. I killed a fuckton of chicken for soups and dinners when I was ~7 years old and living near my grandma's farm so I'm not against killing animals for food, but feeling satisfaction and the sense of competition doing so? Feels wrong to me, glad You're not into that.
