Maybe this is a completely stupid idea, but if Funhaus Live were to tour via colleges across the country, you could probably get funding assistance from the institutions themselves (I know many art schools have guest performance budgets for example) and they already have built-in venues/housing. Just a thought?

I had absolutely no idea that it was being streamed on twitch and I follow 30 or so RT people on twitter and use the RT site daily. Maybe I was just totally oblivious but I don't remember seeing any promotional stuff at all.

so regarding Adam not being allowed into the venue to set up his wife’s stuff early this is because prior to the event there are tonnes of forklifts, crates and various other heavy machinery and equipment being moved and since this is considered similar to a construction site there are certain safety standards they have to maintain as required by law. Enclosed shoes because there are lose bits of metal and wood quiet literally everywhere and hi-vis vest required because of machinery. Hope it didn’t cause many problems but different country different levels of safety required

No promotion for sydney streams. Then when i remembered it was on it was at bad times for me because of the time difference. Not to mention a lot of the panels aren't worth watching imo. You have the majority of RT/AH panels where you get to watch a bunch of nervous people ask the same 10 questions you hear at every convention. When RT has a panel they put effort into with new stuff to show off, the streams go down because it is exclusive to the people there. Funhaus put's effort into panels so it's not just another ama but the hassle of figuring out when an interesting panel is going to be on and remembering just isn't worth it when I can watch a vod later or the dozens of hours of content that is competing for my view. The only time I consistently watch RTX content is when a fan goes through the trouble of making a list of panels with a link to each vod.

Another thing just because it's published in a book doesn't mean it should automatically be treated differently then online information. Anyone can publish a book. There are tons of books about alternative medicine that are bullshit.

Honestly I didn't even know they were doing anything on Twitch, I would have watched if I knew. I have content creators I follow on youtube and others that I follow on Twitch. Funhaus (and Rooster Teeth content in general) I follow on youtube (or here on the site) so I didn't even think to check twitch and it didn't seem to be marketed that much that it would be on Twitch.

    Google trends on twitch?

I don't bother watching stuff on twitch, I personally just keep it to RT & YT. Maybe it's I'm getting older and/or time factor but I don't want to have to bounce around to for each show I wish to watch.

I also highly value physical media, I both like to hold an item that I've purchased but also being able to resell it later is important to me.

In terms of RTX Sydney on Twitch not doing well, id like to give my take. Everyone here is right about it being not very well marketed, but i would like to go a little deeper. I have always wanted to try to chime in with an in depth comment for the comments section of Dude Soup, literally my favorite part of the post show.

There has never been any sort of social media marketing push for the streaming side of RTX, ever. Every year it seems to become more and more of an afterthought on the part of Rooster Teeth. I remember the information, stream quality, and production value were far better way back when I was tuning in to see The Creatures panel before I was an RT fan. This year did include that group of Australian people hosting, they did a great job, but I was only aware of that because Burnie tweeted about them.  Not sure how people are supposed to watch an event with no marketing/information.

RT has zero presence on Twitch except for RTX. Always baffled me that AH and FH ignored it for so long given the ability to diversify, grow an audience on another platform, and the far superior monetization options that Youtube is only now catching up to. The only thing i can think of is them not wanting to pull subscription money and compete with their own FIRST/Sponsor platform. Hell, Ryan, Jeremy, Meg(not at RT but she, like jeremy, has a youtube channel too), etc. all stream on Twitch and pull in good numbers, but AH as a whole sticks to youtube. Say what you will about the creatures, but at their height they were doing great on youtube and were consistently at the top of twitch whenever they streamed games or their podcast. They had a huge revenue stream from subscribers there. If you have no pre-established presence on twitch, then trying to pull people from other platforms is very difficult and takes time, which is why i assume there is not much effort from most of RT to do it in the first place. They have no audience there, and taking the time to grow it is not deemed a good idea it seems.

To be honest, it seems like RT doesn't care about the stream at all anymore and instead focuses on the live event entirely. Which is strange to me since it seems like the opposite approach that big events like EVO take, where the stream is a well oiled TV production that pulls a TON of viewers and the only benefit to the live event is being there in person with people and to see the stars in person. Sorta like how it is for pro sports. As far as I know, RTX Austin is about as big is it will ever get in terms of attendees due to the size of the venue and hotel space. The only room for significant growth is on the streaming side. Yet, from my outside perspective, no more/improved effort seems to be going into the stream anymore year by year on all fronts other than the amazing job the talent does on stage.

There was no streaming schedule released for the fans. So even those who did want to watch had no idea what was going on when. This is strange since there usually is one made up that ends up getting passed around reddit and twitter. Big red flag.

Im not sure why the main stage always gets marquee position on the main RT channel. Everyone is tuning in for the panels. Not to see 2 members of achievement hunter play a new game from a dev at the event poorly. I can see that every day all year.

The fact that so much was not streamed in terms of panels hurts since, for example, people in the twitch chat and reddit were infuriated that the, by all accounts, incredible SP7/Funhaus On the Spot was not streamed for us. On top of that, every RTX has talent like AH claiming that the best stuff was stuff that no one gets to see like theater mode live. They just rub it in. They are still rubbing in how good the first theater mode live they did over a year ago was. Its a real disconnect when you constantly talk about how fun and incredible something was that less than 2k people even have a frame of reference for.

The two stream channels had so little content to actually show(self inflicted) that they literally were streaming the same thing for more than half of it. I know the event is for the people there, but it is not wise to let the streaming audience feel alienated. Personally, actually being there at the event, making friends, seeing it, getting that experience and possibly meeting you or just seeing you in person is enough of a reward. Having so much content off screen is very annoying and I guarantee the people there do not feel like they are getting ripped off if you stream something to everyone. That is a fallacy that has been pushed for years by RT that no one I have met at any RTX has ever agreed with.

One other point that I think will get overlooked is the missteps in how any announcements were handled. You cant put the animation trailers/sneak peeks in the founding fathers panel. Usually RWBY, by far the biggest thing at RT bar none, has their fanbase foaming at the mouth for information coming out of the RWBY panels. Im talking equivalent to comic con where people at the event are having to verify that they are actually there to then verify information about a teaser that was not shown to the stream or even just hoping something cool comes out of the QnA or something. But at this RTX Sydney you had 3 voice actresses who themselves state that they know nothing just answering repetitive QnA questions about stuff we already know, "which character would you like to play if you weren't playing yours?" Stuff like that gets real old. If miles, gray, or kerry were there then fans may have expected something, even if a teaser would have not happened due to volume 5 just ending. The lack of a general animation panel also falls under this for generating interest for nomad of nowhere or gen lock. I saw zero fervor from the RWBY reddit or tumblr, facebook groups, twitter, etc. Essentially, there was nothing to get people excited to tune in in terms of info. The biggest thing we got was AH announcing that they are going to film a pilot for their version of a Ghost show.

To be honest having so much behind the scenes content for RWBY with both the mini doc series and the rewind show basically neutered the panels from now on. All the concept art and extra tidbits got revealed already. Knowing about Gen: Lock so early has only made a very vocal section of the RWBY fandom already dislike it due to fear of it pulling resources from RWBY. Not that it actually is, but RT has not done a good job of quelling those fears and they have already snowballed. It scares people since nearly 100 percent of RWBY criticism is based on things people feel could be fixed with more resources and time since the CRWBY has proved that they have the ability to do what everyone wants, but sometimes fall short for some. I hope Gen: Lock is not dead on arrival due to a dumb perceived slighting of RWBY.

Finally, the stream had a ton of technical issues on all fronts. They were constant. Take a lesson from Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, you can't half ass the aesthetic/effort of something and hope it gets by on the religious fandom and its name, it will fall flat even if the core meat of it is great. The E3 coverage the past 2 years from The Know has had better production value than any RTX in the past 2 years.

Sorry about the novel, but that is my diagnosis. A few years of pent up frustration i guess. I would love to know your thoughts and feel free to pass this on if you want. By the way, the Google Trends panel was legitimately my favorite thing from RTX this year.

The whole Altered Carbon thing is tough, because it's one of my favourite books and I think it works really well in that medium. But actually seeing Takeshi Kovacs as a white dude, even with the sort of half-hearted flashback scenes in his old body, is a little... off-putting. Idk, maybe it was a missed opportunity to play with the script a bit and have Kovacs re-sleeved as another POC but I'm sure (as with most things) it came down to money and what actor would bring in the most viewers.

Also Omar, if you see this, I'm from Canada and that's how we say grade levels here :)

The following is an excerpt from an absolutely real true non-fictional interview with George R.R. Martin.

"Some people assume that when I wrote these books, I must have had at least a passing knowledge of horses, but the truth is that when I began, I’d never seen a horse in my life. In fact, I had absolutely no idea what horses even looked like.

I knew horses were animals of some kind, but beyond that, my entire conception of the way these animals actually looked was based on hearsay and my own speculation.

Of course, I always wrote around my ignorance as much as possible. If you look back at A Clash Of Kings, you can see that I note in one section that “there were some large, normal-looking horses outside the main gate” and that I actually make repeated mentions later in the book of people riding around on “horse-sized horses.” I assumed that by just consciously refraining from going into specifics about a horse’s color, shape, or disposition, I could get by without anyone noticing.

Inevitably, though, there were some details I got plain wrong. Tywin Lannister’s horse’s “great gleaming wheels,” the stallions outside Storm’s End “growling and barking in agitation” and the many passages describing Dothraki horses “flapping across the fields” seemed like natural descriptions at the time, but in retrospect I see how they could have betrayed my unfamiliarity with the creatures.

For example, had I known how thick a real horse’s neck is, I would have realized how unrealistic it was to have Joffrey, a mere child, strangle a horse using only two fingers."

I had no idea there was streaming on twitch for RTX. I did see something about a live stream for RTX on youtube or maybe the roosterteeth site? Either way it said "live now" and when I clicked it said the stream wasn't starting for like 14 hours... It's cool and all you guys tried to stream stuff for fans. But it sounds like it was planned really poorly.
