Yeah, Assassins creed isnt as fun as it once was. I never got through 1, but ive played 2 on (have rogue but never played it). I couldnt get through 3 or unity, and i havent tried syndicate yet, but its just...not the same anymore. So im in favour of a break from it. I wish it would have a real present day story again too. I also buy CoD but i only played advanced warfare for like 3 hours total. haha I also got BO3 for christmas and still havent played it (been playing halo 5 & destiny mostly).

meh. just my one opinion, but i could care less about most "more serious" content in the frame it was originally presented. learning about your politics, stances, and all that stuff...could be interesting for sure, but I don't feel like it makes much sense as a series of videos. Maybe journals, but that's a time investment without much benefit if any. Closest thing I can think of is satirical interviews where Adam asks each member questions and they represent the most hypocritical side of each political stance (I've found Joel to be really good at playing these sorts of roles), but that might attract a bit of flame. I'm glad you made the "form your own opinions" message; important shit.

that being said, do what you want. youre good at that.

I think the Fan Show is a perfect medium to deliver the more serious discussions. By just watching previous videos, the topic almost always veers to a deeper conversation shortly after the art is shown (due to prompts from the community's comments). I do however miss the older style of fan art presentation, where everyone prints out their favourites and does a little show and tell of why they liked it. Even though it was a colossal consumption of paper it was a nice contrast to a lot of the screen capture/PnP formatted videos.

At first I was a little disappointed that there was yet another discussion-y type show however I feel now that this one is particularly suitable for the subjects that don't really fall under the other shows categories.

I'm all for you guys making another media based podcast, but you need make it more focused than the one you released a while back, that was pretty scattered and hard to follow.

About the "serious discussions": I really enjoy when you guys go in that direction as well, and it's one of the reasons Dude Soup is probably my favorite show of yours. What I would love to see more of was what used to be the case with the old channel, which is more Q&A questions and Dude Soup discussions about gaming, game development, consumerism, expectations, etc.. Most discussions on Dude Soup these days are hot, controversial topics and while I love hearing your thoughts on those, whenever I rewatch old IG Podcasts, I am much more invested in the conversations. The same change happened more with the Q&As/Open Haus. When I go back and see old Q&As there are a lot of questions, such as "Do you think Day 1 DLC is justified?" and "What are your thoughts on annual release cycles?" which I personally want to see more of. Right now most episodes of Open Haus consist of, as much as I both love and hate when Joel says this :D, "dance monkey" questions, and while I love those and always find them entertaining, I know how insightful you guys can be when it comes to the gaming industry. Inside Gaming was more gaming focused, while Funhaus can be regarded more as general entertainment the way I see it, so I guess the differences there make sense.

Edit: One thing I love hearing from you guys is your experience and wisdom with YouTube. You all have been on YouTube for a long time and you're one of the only group of personalities that I watch that I can say "knows how to YouTube", remind me a lot of MatPat in that sense. Whether it be talking about clickbaity titles and thumbnails, how branding should work, relationship between creator and audience, it's all very insightful and I'd love some more discussions on How to YouTube.

Well, what if instead of Bruce and Joel spending a lot of time making song parodies for Demo Disk every week for no reason why not turn that hard work into a video? I say make an irregular series that has Bruce and Joel sit down and come up with the song parody on camera, and make it a sponsor only show that is made randomly, much like the garbage games gameplays. That way people can still get to listen to the parodies you guys make every once in a while and you're not wasting a ton of time making the 2-3 minute long song. This way we'd be getting to see the entire process, and might be able to give our own input. I don't know just a little thought I had.

<3 I was in a comments part! But anyway, I never see Rooster Teeth or Funhaus or Achievement Hunter or anyone group for that matter as a single entity or a conglomerate of same opinions. Rather, people do get a certain feel when you watch a lot of one content, so generalizing opinions is an easy way to discuss rather than say "Gus, Burnie, and Gavin thought this way, Michael and Ryan had a similar opinion, Bruce and James were on the opposite side of the spectrum." The feel people seem to get from Funhaus, and I do personally, is more of one that is you aren't afraid to say things against the norm, and a lot of the more prominent people at Rooster Teeth seem to think more "I'm happy with good, doesn't need to be great." or they'll like games that the general public seems to agree with and Funhaus will say "We need more than good or okay". Yet of course, you must consider Rooster Teeth (as the YouTube content producer) generally covers a wider range of subjects, whereas Funhaus is still rather gaming-centric in comparison. But I digress. As a fan, I like hearing everyone's opinions on things because the people from RT, Funhaus etc tend to be more intelligent than you give yourselves credit for.

    TL;DR

Generalizing is an easy way to discuss the general feel of opinions (obviously), but personally I generalize opinions only in a quick discussion or comment, and think and speak of opinions as individual ones on a more personal level.

I'm glad Adam mentioned how they don't teach like personal finance in school and stuff and how there is this set ideology in the US about how life should go.

I really wish someone in high school would've stressed to 17 year old naive me that it would be okay if I didn't go to college...and now here I am 5 years later, stuck in college with no direction and not having anything to show for it except debt whilst not being able to find an adequate job to pay off the debt because I literally have no experience in anything.

I know they said that they likely wouldn't make a video or podcast with the express intent of discussing something serious, but I've always wanted someone,, preferably a group rather than one person specifically and not particularly Funhaus, to discuss religion and games.

It's rarely ever used, and when it is it's either some weird reimagining of something IRL or it's treated as 'it's fact, but recorded wrong' (ie AC's mythos with the pieces of eden). It's strange to see one of the cornerstones of human civilization either ignored or twisted to fit a narrative.

    • McHeisenburglar

Religion can be a very touchy subject to talk about, especially as a group. Many opportunities for people to find your words offensive, and in my opinion good knowledge of religions is needed to get into discussions such as Assassin's Creed's mythology. Probably not these guys, but there might be some other people who are willing to talk about it.

I think ultimately Assassin's Creed taking a year off is a good thing for people wanting more Assassin's Creed in the future.

You can stack up meaningless features on top of each other until everything falls apart, but iteration only works so long before people get bored of getting the same thing over and over again. At some point, you have to take the core of your thing, disassemble it, think really hard on how you can improve it, actually improve it, then assemble it back up again and build on top of that fresh new core. That takes a lot of time and effort, and you aren't even certain of the result.

Staying relevant for a long time is hard, and it gets harder for a variety of reasons, the most obvious of which is running out of ideas. It's true for games, it's true for TV, movies, probably books if I read them, etc. Failure to come up with something new (and preferably improved) is fatal.

So for Assassin's Creed to take some time off, it hopefully means they'll come up with something that will feel both familiar and refreshing, as opposed to just "it's that game you played last year, now with more blips on the radar" or somesuch. And then they can iterate AC for 8 more years. Yay, I guess. Or something.

I disagree about the AC storyline not accumulating to anything. Yes, Desmond Miles is gone, but you still see snipits of the real world in the games.

    SPOILER ALERT:

In Syndicate, you still see Oracle talking to Rebecca and Shawn as they infiltrate Templar lairs and hunt down the Shroud of Eden. While they took out the present time playability, they definitely didn't remove a cumulative story. Plus, the whole Juno thing that came up with the WWI glitch.

yeah but the real world really started to matter less and less to the point where you just want to go back to "past" gameplay. i agree yea it still has it but its becoming more and more irrelevent sadly I enjoyed the story now I feel there is none its just go play in the "past" but your actually in the future. honestly AC is becoming more and more of a production game like COD which sadly seems to be happening to every popular game(I know not all) the companies seem to just focus on $$$ not story (halos becoming more multiplayer, cod and batfield soly becoming multi, i enjoy story as a gamer thats why Legond of zelda was my fav as a kid with majoras an orcraina)

Holy motherfucking shit. Does this make me a celebrity now? Love you guys XD

In response though, I'm not trying to shit on RT. Just saying that I appreciate your approach to criticism and I'm glad for it. An it's also nice to hear people who agree with me, doesn't mean I'm going to stop listening to other opinions. I still like all RT and AH videos, but I think it's okay for me to voice constructive criticism.

And of course I know that a company contains many individual opinions, but there still tends be an overall trend in attitudes that emerges from it all. Basically what I'm saying is despite being on the internet, I'm actually a well rounded, independent thinking adult, and I think you presumed a little too much about me when trying to dish out advice. No hard feelings, just wanted the chance to respond.

James seems to be confusing why Black Flag was an amazing game. Naval combat done right. Not because it has a billion collectibles.

    • Sam_Owen_010 Snowplough (It's cool)

You have to see where he's coming from though, he's basing it off the fact that they have just increased the duration of the game by placing random collectables instead of focusing on a story. Agreed the naval combat was amazing and new but I think James just wants a more in depth story than the classic hunt, kill repeat that AC has developed over the years with no real changes in terms of regular gameplay.

  • Sam_Owen_010 Snowplough (It's cool)

With all due respect to Joel's opinion (btw I love Joel, no hate intended) but I feel as though it is a little silly for him to be commenting about Assassins Creed in this situation, he's allowed an opinion which I am not against at all but because he's only played a bit of the first one it's strange how he can have such a sold view point on the series and its future. It would be like him saying that Apple should take a year off from producing IPhones because he's played around with a 3G!

No offense taken! But my point was more about video games in general, and really didn't have much to do with AssCreed specifically. Which is why I talked about Blizzard's approach to game making. Same can be said for Bethesda. To sum it up: I APPRECIATE the business reasons behind yearly releases, but I RESPECT delaying releases to make more perfect games.

There is still one coming out every year though which most people are annoyed about, yes three years is a long time to develop a COD game, considering previously it was only two, but it's still very linear as they never move away from previous models i.e. enclosed maps, perks, kill streaks, the same type of campaign etc...

(JESSICA JONES SPOILERS, sort of) I know it isn't super relevant but that line from Jessica Jones sounds dumb out of context, but it actually works in the show. I think it's true that Funhaus tends to be a bit more critical (in a neutral sense) of things in general, but like that person said, I think it's honestly just because the Funhaus guys's interests and standards skew in a different direction than the average person at Rooster Teeth. Basically, I think both are being honest, and it's just different people with different personalities.

I like Rooster Teeth because they're fun. I basically never feel any nerd rage when watching their content. I do often feel it when watching Funhaus, but it's worth it because:

A- They're hilarious. I can appreciate good humor even if it pisses me off. In fact, I think may be addicted to things that piss me off. I may need help.

B- At least they are willing to talk about it. Sometimes, the first step is someone starting the conversation. I'd rather have my opponents outnumber me in a debate than to have no debate at all.

I think Funhaus SEEMS a bit more harsh sometimes because they APPEAR to make unanimous, unfettered opinions on things and write everyone else off. But if you really listen, that's usually not their intent. Half the time, it's actually them mocking themselves. If there is any real problem, it's the fans. Funhaus suffers from that age-old paradox: they are so reasonable, that their fans begin to basically worship them. Which then means the fans have missed the whole point, because now they will agree with whatever they say and crucify anyone who objects. And I have seen that in the comments several times. But that's on the fans, not on Funhaus.

I had no idea I agreed so strongly with Adam on something. But I've been preaching the same thing for years. Well, maybe not quite the same thing, but similar.

First, that highschool is too heavily focused on "preparing you for college" (which it doesn't even do a good job of, which I will explain next), rather than teaching people things they may need to know to start living their lives independently. We tell EVERYONE that you're a FAILURE if you don't go to college, which is horseshit. I think everyone would benefit from it, but not necessarily RIGHT after finishing high school. In fact, I think a wiser strategy is to work for a few years first. You will mature faster (I guess a lot of people are deliberately trying to slow that down), earn some money so you won't have to deal with loans so much, and you'll probably get much more out of college that way. Instead, people just see it as a necessary ticket to get a good job, which it isn't. There are plenty of good and even well-paying careers that don't require college, and the degree itself will almost never "get you a job". It's just one of many requirements for some jobs.

Second, personal finance. Why the FUCK don't we spend ONE semester in highschool teaching this? How many kids learn pre-cal only to never use it again? Personal finance is something that parents are apparently supposed to teach their kids. But there's a few problems with that. First, they aren't doing it. At least not very well in general. Second, that's just one more way to give rich kids an advantage. People who are financially successful can pass on their knowledge to their kids. What about kids growing up in poverty? If their parents haven't figured out how to stay out of that situation, it's unlikely they can teach their kids how to.

I took a personal finance class in college just because I needed another class and figured I could some more teaching on it. Turns out, it was one of the most useful courses I have ever taken. And I hate to admit it, but most of that was them teaching us to recognize where our money was going. I think most of us don't want to admit that our financial problems are because we're spending $1,500 a year on coffee, or on itunes, etc. Everyone will claim they aren't spending their money iresponsibly. But if you look around at people in college, they're all wearing expensive clothes, have a laptop, smartphone, ipad, $200 earphones, etc., even though they're on loans. Clearly, we could use some advising at that age.
