this is just my view as someone who is currently in an art school; if you're an artist and you cant handle criticism, don't pursue art. criticism is a crucial part of art, and art itself is a breeding ground for opinion. but what many artists forget is that real criticism only exists to help further your own ideas as an artist. this is why i like fan show so much, its literally a critique session on their fan art.

Regarding the fan art depicting Lawrence in Dark Souls – I'm pretty sure that he's wearing Knight Lautrec's armour from DS1; the weird lumps on the breastplate are supposed to be the arms of an embracing woman (Lautrec is a bit of a weirdo like that).

I'm just curious in case I missed the memo, but what's going on with Funhaus Cartoons, may I ask? I recall that when they were first announced, we were told there would be six of them at least, and they'd all drop the last Sunday of every month. As time went on, that schedule became a little more lax, and now we're at the point where there hasn't been one in quite a while.

I get that plans change, and that the guy who animates them has his own life to live which could prevent him from working on them. I've never been a fan of people that think that once something's been said one time on camera that it's written in stone, and then demand/whinge about things not coming their way that was an extravagance in the first place, hence why I'm not going to do that.

I was wondering if you guys could update us (if you feel comfortable enough and able to, of course) on the situation potentially though? I have nothing more than respect for the guy that makes them and all of you at FH for working with outside producers, and understand things don't always go to plan. It's just I regularly go back and watch FH Cartoons because they make me laugh time and time again, and I think the creator has an immense talent that is instantly apparent.

Tl;dr - have we seen the last of Funhaus Cartoons?

There are a lot of stuff you guys talk about in your show that can be put into links to the side. I'm just asking if you could spoonfeed us the links instead of googling it. Anything would do. Like from the Evangelion video. There could be a link to "The Know" video you guys were talking about. Spoonfeed me please.

Do you guys actually enjoy doing videos for The Know? During the end slate of the 'GTA Online Makes $500 Million' video the conversation seemed to lend itself to everyone being annoyed that you have to do it. Now I'm not sure whether it was due to the subject you were reporting on at the time or a previous story you covered but it's the first time I noticed some genuine annoyance with that aspect of your job in a video.

I've loved your addition to The Know as it seems to me that you've raised the legitimacy of the channel and Meg/Ashley have been able to express more of their personalities into their videos as a result but if you guys don't enjoy it, is there an option to not do it?

I'm curious as to whether you guys have any opinions on the dwindling independent animation scene on YouTube. Over the last few years, and due to the present "watch-time-valuing" algorithm for YouTube videos, productions with lengthy work cycles and short run times have been dwindling. One of the longest production cycle forms of independent media on YouTube has always been animation, but the present system has a tendency to devalue videos of short span, completely ignoring production quality. A potential solution many independent animators have vied for is to base revenue on percentage of video watched rather than seconds of video watched, but it'd be easy to get around that by uploading a million four second videos of absolutely nothing and watching the cash roll in as people had to watch only four seconds to fulfill the '100% watched' criteria. Do you guys have any thoughts on what could be a potential solution or whether long production cycle/short-form content on YouTube is screwed?

I wanted to start by saying thanks, through you guys i found a ton of new steam games i'll never have the money to own. Also, do you guys make it a point to avoid playing the same games as Achievement hunter, or is it just a coincidence that other than triple a titles, you guys are usually playing lesser known or indie/multiplayer games

I grew up in an extremely high poverty setting in one of the poorest cities in the southwest. I've spent pretty much my whole life filming, editing, learning 3D art, and most recently C programming. I couldn't afford college so I learned these skills on the internet pretty much. I had one internship that lasted three months in San Francisco, where they paid me significantly less than another intern for some reason. After that I realized I had been looked over in every tech position I tried to get, I even was told most recently that my "background and upbringing" might alienate me from the culture of other employees.
Long story short, despite my level of skill, there are no "ladders" available unless I got lucky and grew up in america suburbia or had the chance somehow pay for college. that's pretty much what I got out of Jame's talking about college and ladders when I thought about it from my perspective after working (very abruptly) in the tech/online entertainment industry.
Do you think because this industry is saturated that it's reserved for people who we're able to go to college or grew up in middle to upper-middle class?

After reading this, it made me feel sorry for not just your situation, but others like these. I have an identical background as you where I grew up with very little and I spoke Spanish as my first language. In all honesty, it seems to me that there may be a sort of subconscious/institutional "racism" (bare with me, I AM NOT saying these people are racist, for example I love all the people at Rooster Teeth!! especially Funhaus, duh) but selective in their taste in both the mannerisms and personality preferences to put on camera. If you take just a second to reflect on the backgrounds of these YouTube personalities, most are white middle to upper class. Definitely not all, but the point is they seem like they're trying to represent their majority of the audience, to make it easier to be relatable amongst themselves, but especially with their audience. This of course is something I see changing as time goes on, but back in the day, only this group of people had access to play all the videogames they wanted and pursue this passion later in their life as a career. I think it's generational, and I’m hoping gamers are more liberal in their thinking, and so including more diversity will happen naturally over time, and I'm sure sooner than we expect. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't have concrete statistics, just my own observations.

But even after considering these limitations, look at how FAR you've come. It seems like you always had your own drive, and motivation to succeed. It’s a great benefit, if not one of the only, to being raised with a disadvantaged background. Luckily, there are governmental training grants in my line of work to increase the diversity of to-be ‘decision makers’. But having limited opportunities, my advice is simply to learn to play the "professional typically white" game in your industry. Act like yourself but with this audience in mind, as these groups will mostly be in hiring positions. This majority of people are only getting older and will have even more influence in the years to come. You are fine the way you are, I believe all you may need is a different approach. Be humble and articulate – be unique which is yourself, but be relatable.

To you guys who didn't finish college- I'm finishing my second year now at school and since freshman year I've been struggling to find the motivation to go to classes and finish work, and it's gotten to the point where I may be forced to find another major, take a semester off, or find some other alternatives. Coming from a family that is all college graduates from my grandparents to every one of my extended family members, the pressures to graduate and find work from college are big. However, I'm beginning to doubt if college is even something that would benefit me. Given that I don't really have anyone I'm close to to ask about this that decided not to graduate, I was curious to know how you dealt with this decision and if it was something that you struggled with or if you just knew what was for you.

Going off of the discussion on how millennials in the United States have trouble paying for college without thousands of dollars of debt. I suggest that you look into your states National Guard. (Some, not all) will help pay for college, and some even pay full tuition (like Nevada Guard) Although today a lot of people can't even join the military due to increasing physical standards.

Another suggestion in paying for college is to apply for every, single, scholarship you can find. Literally every single one. Sometimes there will be some weird scholarship and only have like one or two applicants. So they'll give it to both people and have extra. One thing to make this route easier is to make a templet of an application and just copy and paste it.

Always appreciate the balanced discussions in Funhaus videos, but I have noticed a trend in your responses to comments expressing faux-progressive millennial values (That'll go over well...). In this video it would be the reference to the american dream and in other videos I would generalize the comments as misunderstandings of standard economic practices. It is my opinion that in your efforts to point out ignorance on the part of commenters you tend to lack a certain cynicism that is necessary when discussing economics or the expectations of a citizen (or often a consumer in your discussions). For example, while it is important to note that the concept of the American dream has become more elaborate with each generation and it is hypocritical for an individual to accept American values and then expect a government that ensures individual success to each citizen, it is also necessary to acknowledge that the American dream is a purposeful myth in and of it self in that it ensures the possibility of personal success when in fact this is incogruent with capitalism which even under a free market requires some financial subjugation and under actual conditions creates great economic inequality. Obviously there's more to examine here, but the point is I think you end up defending a position that also deserves criticism. I did appreciate your discussion of game developers' rights during DUDE SOUP and feel like that is more representative of what I appreciate about your commentary. Thanks for all your work and sorry for the length.

I'm really glad you guys talked about climbing ladders to get into a competitive industry. My goal is to join the game development industry and I'm going to college to help with that goal, but getting those first jobs are still something I still need to figure out. Obviously I can't graduate college and then immediately start working at a place like Valve, I need to start with small jobs/do independent work for a few years and build my way up to it.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone in the industry so it will be a difficult to get started. Do you guys have any advice on how to meet people in your target industry? Is it as simple as getting your name out there and coming across people or would you have to actively go out and find people at conventions or conferences etc.?
