I know I've already tweeted that I don't want my art included in the show anymore but I thought I would go a little in depth about why and explain a bit more about why I'm upset.

I'm already nervous to post my art as it is. People have not been kind over the past few years about my art, but the past few weeks have been exhausting. I've been called the r slur many many times in these past few weeks. As the word does bother me and occasion has an extreme enough reaction I would consider it a trigger. I've gotten many many people anonymously messaging me calling me the r slur and to stop getting so worked up about it. I've gotten messages telling me I shouldn't have my art on your show because I'm not a real fan (ha look at me now, not wanting it there anyways).

These 'fans' have made me super uncomfortable about being in this community. You guys have made me uncomfortable about being in this community. No one is standing up about things like this happening, no one is saying anything. The fact of the matter is, you are isolating me and other autistic fans, fans with autistic family members and friends, when you use the r slur. You are creating a barrier between you and the fans, and us. I genuinely like 90% of the content you guys make, but every day it's a risk of "are they going to say the r slur? How bad will it affect me if they do? Maybe I shouldn't watch this video just in case". You can go on and on about how the word and the jokes about autism are made in the use of comedy but that's a cop out and we all know it. You are hurting us, feeding into the idea that it's okay to harass us and use the r word liberally.

I've asked to keep my art out of future fanshows because while I may continue to produce art, I don't want to be associated with the r slur in any way. In this particular fanshow, there's a manip of Peake with a quote containing the R slur. I don't agree with it being used. It's not medically or scientifically correct. It's outdated in those terms, language changes. At one point it was acceptable, but in the context you have been using it, it's not and won't be in the near future.

I'm tired of having to just deal with people so casually saying the r slur and joking about autism, I'm tired of being called a 'dumb ret*rd' when I try to speak up. I'm tired of no one listening and ignoring autistic people. I'm not sorry for any upset this has caused, I'm not sorry for being upset. This isn't fair and I won't stand for it anymore.

The continued use of the r slur/jokes about autism have made me feel isolated in the community. I can't even reach out to other autistic fans because they are too scared about the backlash or have all but given up. While you guys continuously say 'don't listen to us' the problem is people are still heavily influenced by things you do and say. This is something you have to own up to, you can't just say 'don't listen to us' and be free of the consequences of your actions. It just doesn't work that way. You are harming a group of people by actively making jokes and using a slur against them, and your fans are following your example whether you want them to or not.

If one of you guys have used the word by accident (not thinking about what you're saying, it just 'happened) in a video maybe once every few weeks or months it would have been excusable if you had apologized or at the very least wouldn't wave it off as nothing it would have been fine. However, it feels like it's been more of a thing that's been happening more and more recently. It feels like every other video has an r slur or autism jab or joke and it's not okay.

In short, the word is outdated for its original context. It's nothing more than an actual slur now, and you guys are doing nothing but hurting autistic fans when joking about it. Fans of yours have sent me countless gross 'hate' messages, as I stated before. The community has become an unwelcoming place for me and others like me, I never know when someone will get upset with me and I never know if someone is going call me the r slur in your defence.

I still enjoy your videos, and I still will most likely make fan art, mostly I'm just upset and disappointed that another group of people is treating me and people like me like we don't deserve basic human respect.

as another autistic fan, i'm with you 100%. hell, the guys don't have to spend time thinking "i can't say this" in videos, i would be far less affected if they bleeped out slurs. they are public figures and susceptible people look up to them - like it or not. the repeated use of jokes and slurs like the above make people think it's okay. they wouldn't use racial slurs, the t slur, so why is the r slur considered less important?

every time they do it they're telling their audience that we, autistic people, are different, not like them. they're dehumanising us, building a wall between us - basically, funhaus are donald trump and we are mexico, except funhaus have normal sized hands.

stigma is attached to words for a reason, and they're reinforcing that stigma. it's not enough to brush off the hurt of an entire subculture by saying that you didn't 'mean it like that'. it's not funny, it's not satire. satire is making fun of the bully; funhaus is just further hurting the bullied.

I don't watch funhaus any more mostly because after watching a few dozens of videos with them, I've learned that they're basically assholes. Trolls and just plain hurtful.

As a parent of an autistic child, I'm here to back you up on this. My son doesn't watch Funhaus content, it's not age-appropriate, but it makes me sad to think of all the teenagers on this website and on YouTube who do watch this content and have to hear these adults fling slurs around like they're just another word. This casual use effectively divides the community into "normal" and "abnormal". It implies that it's okay for the "normals" to make jokes at the expense of the "abnormals" and that's terrible.

I will say this as well: the r-slur was not used in episode 52 of On The Spot with Zach Anner. Yes, Bruce and James' team name was a joke directed at his disabilities, but Zach is their friend and has a good enough sense of humor to allow them to do that. It's comparable to their use of Jewish jokes around Joel; if he had a problem he certainly would have told them. But not once did anyone on that show use the r-slur. If it's just a word, then why didn't they use it there? What was different that it needed to be avoided? The answer is easy: it's because someone would have been horribly offended and possibly triggered.

If that's a good enough reason for their friends, why isn't it a good enough reason for the fans? Why are we ignored? Why are we told "don't like don't watch"? I do like. I want to watch. I don't want to be insulted by people I look up to. My opinion is one I share with a lot of people and we all pay for the privilege to watch these videos; why is this opinion overlooked? It's a shame.

So i've avoided involving myself in this because I don't have autism, only have had autistic pals, and therefore don't feel it's my place to comment, but Kit is a great person and it fucks me right off that Funhaus pretend that slurs have no impact and pretend that their fans don't take social cues from them (or that they have no responsibility if their fans take social cues from them) when there is evidence to the contrary. You can't pretend that your use of slurs in videos doesn't effect anyone when YOUR fans are sending Kit messages calling him that slur and they're doing it in YOUR defense, whether you support that behaviour or not. I think it's very easy to have that "it's just a word" mentality when you're not the target of it. And you would never say the n-word etc but for some reason the r-slur is fair game?

I feel like if any member of Funhaus used the r-slur in front of an autistic person IRL and that person asked them to stop, they would apologise and not do it again, because they're all respectful people and I hear nothing but good things about them from fans who meet them at cons etc. But for some reason if people on the internet are saying they don't like FH using slurs it gets ignored and the slurs and autism jokes keep on coming. It just doesn't add up to me.

I adore Funhaus, was just waxing poetic on the subreddit last night about how much I love Funhaus and how inspirational they have been to me, but it breaks my heart to see friends i've made within this fandom falling out of love with FH and the community because they're unable to feel safe.

I knew a teacher when I was in middle school who taught special ed. She was in charge of one of my after school groups, so we saw each other a lot and I and the rest of my group would exchange stories with her while we worked. One day, she told us why she decided to go into special education. She was in public and she used the r-slur to describe something that she didn't like. She turned around and saw a young man with Down's Syndrome looking hurt and his mother looking angry. His pain and his mother's anger drove her to dedicate her life to working with the kids that everyone else in the school (including me, because I was young and didn't understand) would look down on and call names. It's a story that has stuck with me throughout my life, because back then and even now I'll find myself saying things that are hurtful and wrong, because "everyone else does."

But then I remember that words aren't just words. People say that they are, but they aren't. What you say allows people a look into what you think, and how you act. Words hold more power over people than most realize, and when you have a popular channel and a place to influence people with your words, they have even more power. When you use that slur, and other slurs like it, you're doing more than just complaining in a supermarket to your friend. You're broadcasting to thousands of people. And statistically, many of them are just like Kit. Hurt by what you're saying, even though they still admire you and enjoy your videos. Am I saying every autistic person that watches your videos is offended or hurt by the words you use? No. But I would think that you care enough about your fans to want to at least try to curb your language away from things that are deliberately painful.

When you keep using slurs, and acting as though they're no big deal, you're telling other fans that if someone is hurt by it, they're wrong. That might not be your intention, but that's the effect. I've seen people send Kit awful messages, just because they take issue with this one thing you say.

I've thought of countless ways you guys would react to seeing Kit lay this all out for you, and while I really hope that you take it to heart and understand that you're not dealing with someone who is "oversenstive" or "a baby," but rather someone who is genuinely hurt by you continuing to do something that is wrong, I'm also worried that you'll just continue on with how you've been doing things (that is, using and not censoring slurs). Because how you're currently doing things isn't okay. And your fans are being hurt because of it.

This ended up waaaaaay longer than I meant it to be, but it just sucks to see people who already have to deal with how society treats them getting kicked by the people they admire.

I don't know if it's cause I'm a devout fan or cause I'm a hipster douchebag but I've noticed that the videos that I love, the Dark souls lore master or gore series, tend to get less views, at least according to this and comment show. Is this a bad read or is there truth to this?

Actually, LSD is pretty safe physically. You would need to take about 100 times more than you would take in recreation to die. You can build a tolerance, and OD, but as long as you space it out a few weeks at a time, you'd be fine. I'd be more worried about the mental aspects. Stuff like flashbacks doesn't really sound good to me.

I thought, I wanna watch the RT podcast RIGHT NOW. So I grabbed a sponsorship on a whim (already used my trial a while ago for RTES). I just became a sponsor, cause screw it I already pay for Crunchyroll, and that's all anime I can watch for free on other sites on the same day or one day later.

So I got the sponsorship... Look at the website... And see this awesome Fan-art conversation. It has a completely different feel than the other podcast / Open haus videos. Different conversations. Toned down. Little shorter. I LOVE IT!
I didn't even realise you guys did Sponsor only content. On top of that, this is perfect sponsor content because it's not something most people (non-sponsors) would care about losing much. But adds a whole new tone and feel for more... experienced? Shall I say, viewers of Funhaus. Said viewers likely are willing to Sponsor RT already.

Have you guys and gal ever thought of having more shows on funhaus?

Maybe a show where you play indie games. Like stuff from gamejolt is free so it wouldn't cost anything. Then again you guys have already played a lot of them. I just mean a show like demodisk or wheelhaus where you pick random indie games. You could maybe do it at the end of the year and like last year where you played the worst games. Except this time play the best and worst indie games.

Speaking of demo disk, have you guys ever thought of getting a setup where you can play ps2 or xbox or gamecube demos. I'm sure a lot of people still have a shitload of demo disks from magazines back in the day. In fact I remember you guys breaking a ps2 demo on demo disk.

    Just spitballing some ideas.

Maybe a thing that could be done instead of a comment heavy fan-show every now and again could be rotating the order that the things are shown, ie one week is fan art first and the next week with comments first? I'm sure you've considered that already, but if you haven't it's an option.

LSD is harmless provided you are responsible and do your research. It's not for everybody but it has been known to profoundly impact people's lives/perspectives on life, often for the better. Okay, so Kel is totally an amazing person. I have so much admiration for her although she is only a year older than me. It's great to see someone around my age achieve great things. Kel has so much talent and she has created a community that constantly adores her work.. Right now she is killing it. She deserves to go on and do bigger things in her artistic career.

So Kel if you see this, Thank you so much for showing me that being young isn't a disadvantage. It really shows that just staying consistent Is a disciplinary skill that does cause progression in ones goals. It doesn't matter what age you are.

    - Sorry for the Irrelevant comment but maybe there's a chance Kel will see this in this comment section.

Holy smokes! Don't look at me right now I am feeling MIGHTY emotional.

I think you're definitely right: being young ISN'T a disadvantage! For me, a mixture of luck and coincidence landed me where I am with Funhaus. I don't know what I did to deserve the love I get but it's the most encouraging thing and, when you're doing something you love, getting praise for that is just. It's amazing!

It's definitely more than I ever could have asked for, because I think for most people eighteen is a very young age, and even I still refer to myself as a child. Cool thing about the Internet is that age doesn't really come into it that much, so it's trivial to let it hold you back! I feel intimidated by older artists a lot, because they are much more skilled and experienced and they've had a longer time to hone their craft, but worrying about stuff like that is a waste of time because, if you're doing what you love, you're going to improve and make people happy regardless of your age--which is always a good end goal to have.

So definitely just... try not to let that weigh you down. You'll improve at your own pace if you're dedicated to yourself and honest with what you're capable of, and that's all anybody could ever ask of you. Also, you won't be seventeen (I assume you're seventeen!) forever, so there's that to look forward to! :^ D

Thank you for your lovely comment. I'm feeling very overwhelmed and it makes me so super happy that you took the time out of your day to write this. :'^
