I am an Asian-American but I really don't consider myself asian (since i didn't really grow up with the culture and no one really knows whether I am white or asian) and I also don't really have any political opinions. That being said, the way Overwatch has represented so many different types of races, ages, gender, sexual orientation makes me very very happy and there's this weird feeling I get taking a step back and looking at all the characters, It almost feels surreal being able to see such different people working on only two different teams (the bad ones and the good ones). Seeing a scarred black man, a Mexican hacker, and a french sleeper agent trying to kill an old white dude and his Egyptian old lady friend with his asian mecha-fighter daughter is just pretty cool. And for some weird reason it feels subtle, that it's not being shoved down my throat.

I find it kind of interesting that they managed Ana so well that even her dialect makes her feel genuinely egyptian, when we on the other side of the spectrum have Torbjörn, who sounds more like Swedish Chef...

Us Scandinavians sure have it rough! /s

Hey guys, I have a question regarding your comedy. Now, I rarely if ever get offended by your jokes, since I, like a lot of other fans, know they aren't meant to be to be taken seriously and it's ultimately a farce. On ocassion, though, there are times when an off-hand gag or a photoshop still, even with beforehand knowledge of context and intent, can leave me, not necessarily offended, but with an uncomfortable and subdued feeling that prevents me from fully enjoying your content, which is not at all desired since I regularly turn to you and Achievement Hunter for laughter and entertainment, especially after a difficult day. It makes things harder when your favorite comedic outlet does just the opposite, even unintentionally. Recognizing the context and intent of a joke can mitigate the effect of feeling potentially burned by it, but it can't eliminate it fully.

I recognize that you are fully entitled to whatever you want to say and do, and I certainly do not feel that I am entitled to anything. I know full well that you can not appease everyone, and that you run the risk of offending someone regardless of intent. When this happens for me, eventually I just shrug it off and move on, but even this takes time. With my rambling out of the way, how do you suggest fans like myself handle your jokes or just feeling burned by certain jokes in general, even when we ultimately know that it is just that, a joke?

Regardless, thank y'all so much for your content. I apologize if this question comes off as thin-skinned, but I felt like I needed to address it. I wouldn't feel the need to type this if I didn't already respect y'all to a high degree.

P.S. I can empathize with Lawrence as I also have Aspergers.

I think you guys may be overstating the impact diversity has on overwatch's success. While it is great that there is a diverse cast of characters the reason why it did so well is because it is fundamentally a great game. While Lawrence is certainly correct when he states that devs with fewer monitary constraints have the ability to make better games, I believe the diversity present in the overwatch cast list is not necessarily a byproduct of that economic freedom. Rather it is a byproduct of an evolving gaming culture which is becoming more inclusive. It's not like overwatch would have been as successful if it was just as diverse but had shitty mechanics.

I don't know maybe I'm just salty that there is still no Canadian hero.

In regards to your guys discussion about diversity in games. I thank that the way the game is talked about plays a big part into whether it feels genuine or not. When it comes to Jeff and the Overwatch Devs, when they talk about their characters, they talk about the actual character( i.e. Jack is a genetically modified solider who was outcast from his squad). They sometimes sound like they are referring to someone they had just been to lunch with.

I think this plays massively into the way a game feels. On the other hand you have games like Paladins ( Hi-rez's team shooter) and the way that feels. I have put about 4 hours into Paladins and every second of it I felt like it was missing something.( Love it or hate it) It feels like that when Hi-rez sat down and talked about it, they started with a diverse cast and then named and wrote their back story, where overwatch started out just the opposite. They sat down and started with a story, and the characters just fell into place.

Do you think the trend of games, missing the point of why Overwatch was succussful(being the characters and how they interact, also the game play), and just putting in a diverse cast and hoping that this will be the magic formula?

As much as we all like to suck Blizzard's dick over Overwatch, I was just wondering your guy's thoughts.

I think the most important thing when creating characters is to start with the character, then you can add what you want, a game character has be their own person. Their sexual preference/race/gender has to come second. If you make a character to be 'the gay guy' they seem shallow, better to not have them at all. Its funny that, that opinion could be considered anti-progressive in our hyper over politically correct society. I'm disappointed how so many progressive people are hating on straight white guys just because they're straight white guys. Don't they realise they're becoming what we're trying to stop in the first place. I hope people to began to realise that shallow edgy army guys with buzz cuts is stereotyping white guy gamers as well. More diverse character is better for everyone, there shouldn't be 'us against them'.

Great episode been a fan of RT for 6 years, but only just realised how amazing your content is recently, my bad.

You have talked about the internets use of "autism" as an insult and have even used the word as an insult yourselves. Is this just a bit or do you not see the offensiveness of using autism as an insult? I mean no offence to you and would just like an honest answer as someone who enjoys you and has autism.
