If you ask me, Disney is really missing major opportunities to flesh out some fan-favorites. Like seriously, no Crix Madine? C'mon Disney. Shuttle Tydirium didn't steal itself.

The original Max Steel was about the son of an inventor who gets infected with Nano Machines and he works as SPY. This is in part as he needs them to be recharged to work and live. I enjoyed it when I was younger, the suit seems a bit much, but I guess that was popular? :P

I'd like to hear more about Bruce's thoughts on Rogue One. His comment about expecting it to be bad kind of took me by surprise, considering the trailers have been good if not great so far.

Lucasfilm/Disney haven't shown or revealed anything that seems to reflect poorly on the film.

Geography note: A Scottish Darth Vader would have been interesting, but Darth Vader actor David Prowse's accent is thoroughly West Country, i.e., from the southern bit of England that looks like it's trying to escape. For reference here are the excellent Wurzels with their most well-known song in the same accent.

It's almost certainly for the best that, especially for UK viewers, James Earl Jones did the voice-over.

As someone who grew up in China watching Star Wars on bootlegged VCDs, DVDs didn't exist yet, with broken subtitles, having Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang in Rogue One is enough for me to go watch in theaters. Representation is important, props to Disney.  And I tried to suppress my pessimistic opinions of Disney casting Chinese actors because they want the Chinese market. And I'm just gonna watch Dr Strange when it's in dollar theater. Strange is a hard character to sell to the general public and the whole white Ancient One backlash doesn't help. Anyway yay for Asian Jedi.

It's always interesting to hear other people's opinions on all the dc/marvel shows. I get though, that men might be less invested in Supergirl than women? The reasons I like the show are things like that the main girl is clearly very into this one guy but decides to put her career and world saving over romance, I like that there's female relationships that are about supporting each other and I love that the main character is a hopeful, fun and quirky girl. And I Love Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. In comparison I really am not into the dark and gritty DC movies so all this is purely my preference in media. I'm not even sure it's a gender thing but I just enjoy seeing a different kind of female led show when I've gotten so used to women being presented in a certain way in all kinds of media. I don't know if that makes sense. In any case I agree, Arrow is straight up garbage. Couldn't even keep watching for Felicity.

I'm hoping Rogue One and the anthology films will try to be different in some way. It'd be interesting to see the Star Wars universe shown under a light that isn't an epic space opera. I'd love to see a Star Wars war movie, where war is hell and people die for real. I'd love to see an Indiana Jones-esque type of adventure, with ancient Jedi ruins or something. And why not a political drama about the Clone War.

No wait, they did that one already.

Rogue One is being described as a War Movie with a Star Wars setting, more so than any of the previous Movies.
Which, is, good. In the trailers alone we already see more gritty destruction and life being lost to the Rebels than we did in any of the OG trilogy.

Just want to throw in and say I love these Filmhaus episodes too. I hope the guys won't kibosh it as RT podcast did with their spoilercasts, but imagine it's hard to draw in viewers who take so long to see movies in theatres. I've still yet to see Don't Breathe (most my friends wuss out on 'horror'), but as soon as I do I'll watch the last Filmhaus. But a Filmhaus that focuses on anticipation for upcoming films, or more meta topics is a great idea for continuing Filmhaus.

Best case scenario would be regular episodes, but for the time being I'll settle for these low-on-content editions.

Adam you should really check out Batman v Superman the ultimate cut. Because you are right, the producers chopped up that film in the theatrical release and left a bit of an incoherent mess. But the ultimate cut is actually a film that flows well and does set up the conflict between Batman and Superman very well. The extra length fleshes out Superman's side very well and allows the film to breath a lot more. I believe it is the cut that Snyder always meant to put out. It is my favorite superhero film of the year. It's a damn shame the producers then fucked with Suicide Squad too, but I hope the EC will fix that too.

And ever since Geoff Johns became the new co-head of DC films, I have faith in Wonder Woman and Justice League that they will remain the director's vision. Geoff Johns seems to know what he is doing with running an entire "universe" of comics, so I have faith in that he will keep the producers away and let the films be films. So hopefully bright days are ahead of us for us DC fans.

EDIT: Also, Patty Jenkins didn't leave halfway through the movie. Michelle McLaren was supposed to direct the film before Jenkins came on board, but left because of creative differences. Patty Jenkins has always been the director since then.

Personally, I held out for the Ultimate cut, and felt the same thing everyone was saying when the film first hit theatres. No judgement on you or others who can enjoy it, but I just felt like the first 2/3 of the the film was purely to set up the rivalry of BvS, didn't utilise that time effectively, and didn't give a sound reason to contradict all that setup just to fight a villain that was given next to no reason to. I was also ultimately disappointed that no other character besides Batman, Superman, or Lex Luthor carried any weight in the story. Jimmy Olsen (and his backstory they gave no reasoning for) was the smallest fanservice possible, Lois Lane is just the girlfriend that spouts expository to move Superman and Batman, and Scoot McNairy and Holly Hunter's stories didn't carry impact and seems like won't influence any future story.

But I am excited about Geoff Johns as well, I think his appointment alone is a good indicator of WB actually showing interest in creating critically successful projects. I'm wary of future studio execs meddling, or Snyder taking his involvement in a bizarre direction, but for now those trailers look pretty sweet, and I'll give WW and JL a chance.

Hey everybody got their own opinions, so no biggie that you don't like it. :) For me the film was really well done, heavy, emotional, tense and epic. I do understand that Snyder's style is not for everyone, but I love his style and I think despite what many people think does get the characters very well and understand their core, while doing an interesting take of his own on them.

I have to disagree with many of your points on the characters not adding up to anything, cause I felt like all the pieces were all bullding up to the eventual tragic climax.

I haven't seen John Wick either, but I enjoyed Jack Reacher. I'd only suggest that if you're going to watch the first in anticipation of how this new one looks, don't expect such ramped-up, Bourne-esque action. The first film is more low-key espionage than a Bourne or Mission Impossible, but has a fairly unique tone to the story and Reacher as a character.

I think Star Wars will stay fresh because of the movies between the episodes. Rogue One, and then the Han Solo movies. Having something different between the main episodes will break it up enough to keep it from getting stale. Now they just need to get the Obi Wan movies rolling.

Can't get enough of these types of podcasts. Reelhaus is an awesome name by the way.

As for Star Wars, I think yes the fact that they are isolated movies, basically, and have different directors and various styles does help to distinguish them and lessen the feeling of saturation. I think, however, that we will see an MCU type deal (if the formula ain't broke and it makes billions, don't fix it) where each movie hits very similar beats and you start looking forward to X story because it leads into Y story with all these other shorts and a separate Star Wars TV show. It will be very much the large scale massive scope business venture that Marvel has become, and very successfully too whilst still maintaining a strong quality for what it is. That isn't a bad thing, though, and I'm excited to see where this new generation of film making as IP wars and power moves pans out.

I can enjoy star wars films, but in the end I don't care anymore. I see Star Wars films now as my fast and furious type of movies, I'm really just there for the action and laser blast explosions. I can understand the hype for it but in the end, I've just gone off the memberberries train a while ago and have higher hopes on newer material to come out. Little bit more excited for The Arrival. I do not think that Rogue One will be and 8. I understand an 8 is good but idk man something makes me feel that this movie will blow people away. Also why does Bruce think it will be bad? I just haven't seen anything that would make me think it will be bad. Don't get me wrong there is still a chance it will be but Lucasfilm hasnt given me anything to make me feel that way.
