this obviously just my opinion but I would say that Ragnarok was the first movie that was ruined by the MCU. I would have liked this movie as a Waititi campy 80's throwback, but I dislike it as a Thor movie within the MCU. First of all I love Taika, but because he had to remove this movie from the last two, he was forced to do some things because of the previous 2 Thor movies and they were very forced. First of all, Thor being a casual 80's "bro" is funny within the movie, but not at all like how the character appeared in the previous 2 films. As a result, Taika had to include the heavily emotional scenes with Odin dying, and they lost their punch because the movie went from comedy to drama without a transition. So this movie would be a 8/10 if it was a stand alone - but it is a 6/10 because of the exhausting Cinematic Universe model.

I often skip ad reads but I have to say, that Leesa ad read kept my attention.

Anybody else having problems finding the audio downloads for Filmhaus lately?

The RSS feed hasn't updated since the killer clowns episode, and there doesn't appear to be any audio download for this ep either.

Love the podcasts by the way, just hoping that this doesn't become like the Dudesoup audio version blackout that happened a while back. I really didn't like trying to re-find my place where I had listened last when I finally found out the audio version came back.

Audio is the only way I have time to listen to the podcasts, so if they go, I unfortunately go too.

I would argue that seeing the Antman movie wasn't necessary in order to enjoy or be entertained by Antman's cameo/appearance in Civil War, I enjoyed his appearance and (limited) plot agency despite never seeing Antman and not really knowing much about the character besides his name.

I kind of hope that once Thanos is done, they do Dark Avengers since they have Osborn. Maybe by time they finish that they can get the rights to Doctor Doom back.

Cool click bait... From a myth expert standpoint Thor Ragnarok is a little cringe with all the stuff it gets wrong. The story is kinda whatever but it's an entertaining movie.

really kind of annoyed that Hollywood thinks "GOD OF DEATH=EVIL" I get why, but I wish they'd do it with their own gods of death rather than taking gods of death from mythology who are actually really good people like Hades, or lawfully neutral like Hel, and just deciding "OH DURR THEY JUST EVIL CAUSE GOD OF DEATH."

It's a fun movie and I really enjoyed watching it. Just not a lot of substance.

To be fair, they're basing that on Marvel's depiction of her, which is on some occasions antagonistic in some way. At least the comic version is actually Loki's daughter, unlike the movies.

That almost makes me more mad lol. I thought she was a sister in the comics too so I wasn't so mad about it since I figured they can't go against what the comics say. I don't get why they couldn't just write a plot that makes sense with her being Loki's daughter. . . Would've made her defeat far more meaningful as Loki would've shown a lot more character.

      *Sigh* Movies man.

Yeah, I was hoping her being Loki's daughter would be a plot point too. Maybe ending with him using the Soul Infinity Stone to revert her to a baby at the end of the movie to show his growth as a character since Thor one.

      @DizzyTiger,

Although to be fair, having Hela as the daughter of Odin rather than Loki would justify a lot more on why she's so powerful and why she can so easily stand up to Thor. Because really, other than using an Infinity Stone powered Scepter and a few mirage clones (along with the astral projecting in the first Thor movie), what exactly has the so called Asgardian "God of Magic" really shown us, power wise?

Strange has shown us some more impressive feats to be honest.

@Jaune_Black_Smudge She's the goddess of the underworld. She is powerful. They don't need to make up some reason like oh she's the oldest child of Odin therefore powerful. It's just annoying to see these movies misinform people on Norse Myth. . . and to see another death god who isn't evil in myth become unquestionably evil in pop culture because death god. Like I said before it would've been far more meaningful if she was Loki's daughter because then her death would've had a lot more weight. Her ambitions more justified "father you failed so I will take the throne" and then Loki as a character would clearly grow more when he chooses not to side with her. OR We could just have like I dunno, not Hel be the antagonist of the movie, or give her some not "BECAUSE I'M EVIL" reasoning.

I think Kinda Funny made a really good point during their review about Edgar Wright's relationship with Marvel vs. Taika's. Marvel really seems to be the most strict about their origin stories, which would explain why they all have the same general structure. If Edgar Wright wanted to go off-book, that kind of breaks their structure (for better or worse). After they tell the audience exactly what they want the audience to know about the character, they're willing to take more risks and have more fun with it, which is why this Thor movie has so much of a Taika Waititi flavor. This is also in addition to the prior Thor movies being probably the most poorly received as a whole.

The 'red goo' in Thor 2 was the reality stone. it was revealed in the post credit scene when Sif and the fat Asgardian bring it to Benicio Del Toro (the Collector from GOTG) and first refer to it and the tesseract as infinity stones.

I have a feeling that if Ant-Man went into production like a year later, Marvel would have been happy to let Edgar Wright do his own thing. I feel like Guardians was the game changer for how the MCU deals with their directors. From what I understand with the whole Edgar Write thing, he wasn't happy with the amount of rewrites that had happened, and felt like he was no longer making his own film, and he has said that he never wants to be just a director for hire.

I really loved the Ant Man film, I didn't realise that was such an unpopular opinion.  I think, in comparison to all the other heroes that were around up until that point, he was really human and normal.  It brings a bit of something different into the mix, or whatever and i thought they did it well, idk, just my opinion of course.  <3

Yeah, Ant-Man was the Marvel movie no one really expected to be that good, similar to Guardians of the Galaxy. Plus, Scott felt instantly more relatable than a thunder god, a world class scientist/rage monster, a constantly drunk egomaniacal snarky billionaire genius, a super soldier, a spy who's speciality is trapping men in her legs, and Hawkeye (who at least has an actual family going on for him).
