I enjoyed the movie more than I thought that I would, but agree that there is a lot of things that don't add up and were weirdly mashed together. I am looking forward to seeing Aquaman's movie and hope that they actually take the time to write some dialogue for him. Cyborg was 200% better than I thought he would be, but the Flash was 200% worse. Only thing that made the flash interesting was his father (Billy Crudup is always amazing)

I liked the characters, but they barely had a movie to hold them together.

    So it's a comedy?

I don't know, this looks like it could be a fun watch, but for all the wrong reasons.

It's definitely not a comedy. Thor is a comedy. It has more humor than past DC movies, but nowhere near the level of MCU. It's more serious than anything.

    Before I watch this podcast:

I just watched the movie today, and I quite enjoyed it.  Granted, I am not a big movie person, and it is the only DC movie (aside from The Dark Night) that I have seen, so I don't know the characters well.  The only real reason I watched it was because my friend and I were both in town and this movie's times worked out best for us.  Anyways, I don't think it was inherently bad, but there were a lot of things I didn't like.  The thing I disliked the most was the lack of character development.  We see the characters, like Cyborg, and Aquaman initially being against working with them, but they seem to make up their minds quickly without too much happening, and even with Flash, we don't see the team integrate, they just kind of appear together.  Now I guess WB gutted a lot of the movie, removing the team/character development, which is just a shame b/c my favorite part of these hero movies is usually the interaction, and I wanted to see more of how they come together.

    EDIT:

After watching like 10 minutes I feel differently.  The movie just ain't good.

I feel like what they did with The Flash was what Marvel did with Spider Man, but failed. The Flash was absolutely horrible and unfunny.

Lol it's a bad movie for all the religiously defensive DC fanboys and lukewarm regulars; trust me, go watch it back in 5-6 months, it'll be boring .. people still have the "i paid money for this so I should like it" syndrome

    the argument isn't that it's the worst movie of all time compared to to something like The Room, no; it's a bad movie relative to what it should have been and the time effort and budget that went into making this;

if all you have to point at is "i like this one part but only in this context without the rest of the movie" then that's a bad movie

The connection between batman V superman (with flash telling batman) Lois lane is the key. It refers to the scene where superman is brought back to life and dont quite remember what happened. But due to the "dream" batman knows to have Lois brought to the scene the superman flys away with her while he regains his memory? or whatever anyway point is they did try to tie it in but man was it rough. However i did like the movie i waited so long for a movie where Superman is just super OP and makes everyone else pretty much disposable.

I am a big fan of the DC films (love MOS, BvS:UC and WW) and I was left dissapointed with this film. Like James said, it's too many cooks in the kitchen, it's a weird half baked ideas that don't come into fruition at the end. And it's shame, because I do think it would have worked if Zack Snyder stayed on the whole way through. Now I am not saying it would be the most perfect movie ever, but at least it would have been one person's vision and a vision I personally would have loved. They cut so much out from all the characters, everyone is criticizing that we didn't really get to know the characters, but Zack Snyder shot a lot of backstory on these characters. It's just a shame WB gutted the film and then have Whedon write in jokes instead of anything of substance. It's just an odd product, instead of a film. Now I get that people hate Zack Snyder's films, but at least they are HIS films. This didn't feel like that. I truly believe this could have worked perfectly fine without having 5 origin films before it, if WB weren't so adamant on making this a less than 2 hour film.

To me this is kinda the return of the jedi of these films. Like in ROTJ, the return of Han Solo seems lackluster, there are weird ewok creatures to appeal to kids, boba fett just dies in a dumb way, but there are still elements that are enjoyable about the film. That is how this film is. Lackluster return of Superman, weird humor thrown in to appeal to kids, but it's still a fast moving enjoyable film.

As for the box office returns. WB tried to make a movie for everyone, which ended up to be a film for no one. Zack Snyder fans are angry that they didn't get the film they were promised and other people got a film that isn't really anything special. Yeah it's a big hit to WB, but I think a neccesary one. I love this franchise and I hope they handle the movies better in the future. More films like Man of Steel and Wonder Woman and not weird studio products like suicide squad and Justice league.

But Aquaman is next in line and I have faith in James Wan. The man who made 1 billion dollars with F7 and is helming his own cinematic universe with the Conjuring. He seems to be a great director and producer, so hopefully him and the studio can get a film made that appeals to everyone like Wonder Woman did.

    *Superman gets to the fight*

Team: It's so good you're here Superman, we need your help!

    Superman: Brb

I didn't absolutely hate the movie, and agreed with most of what they had to say. It was clearly two distinct visions being mashed into one monstrosity of a movie. I'm sure i don't fully comprehend the logistics of the movie making industry and how much it would've cost to take the time to get it right.... But they HAVE to know now that this iteration of the DCEU is a fucking disaster and they need to abort.

I didn't like the flash or aquaman nearly enough to see an origin story movie for either of them. Only way i would be interested in a batman origin is if they go prior to BVS (and more importantly if ben affleck is interested).

I give it a solid 6/10. Have no intention of ever watching it again, but it was atleast a semi-bit fun to watch.

I'm not sure how they were so confused by this movie. Justice League was SO simple and straightforward, it held your hand the whole way through. It even gives each character their own introduction sequence (no idea how Autumn didn't know who was who). Like Bruce said, there were no twists!

This is one of the few times I disagreed with most of their opinions, and felt like they were going out of their way to overly shit on the movie because it's the cool thing to do. That being said, the movie definitely did have flaws but imo it was an enjoyable experience. At the end of the day it's their opinion though, I just have a different one. I thought it was leagues ahead (pun intended) of BvS and Suicide Squad, but not as good as Wonder Woman. I'd give it a solid 7/10.

The real problem I have with Justice League is that it was too short. If the runtime was originally something like 2 hours and 40 minutes, than that means that WB cut out over 30% of the film. Hopefully we'll get to see what was cut out in the Extended Edition.

Also, Tim Gettys is incredibly Marvel biased, and shouldn't be brought up in these sort of discussions.

My interpretation of the glossing-over of the Flash and Cyborg backstories was that they were trying to do what the MCU Spiderman movie did, with the "it's a long story" line.  The problem, obviously, is that the DC characters don't have 15 years and 2 preboots of history explaining their backstories the same way Spiderman does.

Flash has an incredibly popular TV show that showed the same origin story. Cyborg is literally shown in BvS and this and mentioned by Batman. He said something like, "He used it on you after your accident".

They made a Justice League animated origin movie to prepare for the DCEU and it was terrible, mostly because all of the characters were annoying. Superman was a jock, Wonderwoman was Thor and everyone wanted to get into her short shorts. But the plot, the plot was better. Mostly because there was no LotR war of old, mother boxes open boom tubes to teleport an invading army, then Darkseid shows up and one team can't stop him before his army lays waste to Earth. So Cyborg opens up all the teleporters, they push the army back in, team up on Darkseid to send him home then destroy the teleporters. It wasn't a real victory, and the villain appeared just for the climax, but that plot would've been much more tense and less random. Superman vs. Darkseid isn't one sided and you know he's coming back. Plus it gives Batman a redeeming quality after BvS if he actually has to lead the logistics of fighting a war because the team can't stop Darkseid so easily. So long as Darkseid was more like the older animated movies where he comes across as a professional, not some darkness loving warmonger like Steppenwolf, it would have just been a simple, enjoyable film. It wasn't bad, I do want to see the solo movies because of it, but I'm honestly glad Snyder's no longer playing the Feige role but with less power.
