Logan sucked. Writer probably creamed his pants when he thought of Logan's mexican clone turning the cross into an X.

I loved Adam talking about Your Name. It's my favorite film of the year, so it's nice to hear it get more recognition. Which is weird to say given how it's the highest grossing Anime of all time.

I like that Adam is skeptical about infinity war instead of just buying into All the hype

While i didn't think Dunkirk was bad. I thought it was weak in areas. It never gave me the feeling of a large number of people (few Hundred Thousand) on the beaches like there should of been and the action was a little lack luster. But it was entertaining on the big screen in the end.

Yeah I thought it was like the last people to leave but then its like "We saved 300,000 more". Where the fuck were they? Darkest Hour did a better job.

I love that every time Adam brings up the Netflix Death Note he talks about the anime, but what about the the live action Japanese movie? That version was amazing too and was true to the source material.

I enjoyed bright. I wouldn't say it was a great or even good movie, but I thought it was enjoyable. I don't know if that's a great endorsement but yeah.

II-ncredibles is going to be great because it has to be.  Like you guys said, the first one is almost perfect (it's certainly the best-directed movie I've ever seen), and it's probably got more anticipation behind it than any other Pixar sequel has, so I'm sure Brad Bird knows he has to do the original justice.

Toast of London is an awesome show. Matt Berry is awesome.

Logan is a good film for a superhero movie but to think it's going to get awards is a bit much. Out of the superhero movies that came out though, I'd say it's the closest.

I hope Incredibles 2 is at least as good as the first. The first is awesome.

I liked Logan a lot because it's a road movie and it doesn't rely on super-powered non-sense to tell a story. It's got style, and it's got solid performance from Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

Most anticipated movie this year though has to be Wreck-It Ralph 2.

Logan was great, series like that are hard to end but somehow Logan did it perfectly. It wasn't a big movie but it didn't need to be. With all those superheroes movies that try to one-up one another when it comes to "oh no the end of the world is near, we need to save it!" I liked a movie where something lesser but also important was at stake. Amazing acting from Sir Patrick Stewart as well, especially that Dr. X was for me badly written in the movies (X-3 at least)

One of the best examples of a writer putting character first, and fan fare/plot second. The characters are treated like characters and not infallible catchphrase robots.

I didn't love Bright but I thought it was alright. I liked the world more than anything. Orcs and Elves living alongside humans in the modern world isn't really something that's been explored a bunch (if at all) in popular media.

Be curious to see what Bruce thinks of other "quiet" movies that are primarily character studies. By my estimation PTA is the best (maybe second to the Coens) living director.

PTA is my favorite filmmaker working today, but I don't think his films post-TWBB are really for everyone. Especially Inherent Vice is a bit hard to swallow. I don't really fault anyone for not loving them.

True. I rewatched Inherent Vice recently and would definitely say the way I enjoy something like that is way different to other conventional dramas. It just really hurts to hear Bruce write off a PTA film, literally telling people sternly not to see it. His craft is just so immaculate (and then trashing on the Jonny Greenwood score!). And then a few minutes later he seems like he can't contain himself for the next Avengers. Different strokes, I guess.

If they actually do like Bruce said, with The Avengers killing someone off in the first 5 minutes, 10 to 1 it's Vision. He's totally expendable to the plot, since he is literally made from the Mind Stone. It practically requires him to die early.

That and the fact that he was sidelined so fast the only meaningful thing he did in Civil War was shoot down War Machine and realize he's become an asshole just like everyone else, except more boring.

Your Name gets movie of the year for me. Titanic didn't make me feel anything, yet somehow Makoto Shinkai had me bawling my eyes out for half an hour after I finished watching this masterpiece.

Off Adam's Logan/Wonder Woman nomination points, I was a little bummed that Stewart wasn't nominated for supporting actor. Stealing this from another article about the film, but the guy convinced us Xavier got old, something time hasn't even able to do to Stewart just yet. But yeah, as a whole, they weren't in the top movies of the year by any means.

I would personally take Christopher Plummer out.

Stewart in Logan was probably his best performance of his entire career, imo.

As a fan of the book series, The Dark Tower was a huge disappointment, especially when IT became such a great success (I really enjoyed IT). The contrast in quality and dedication to the spirit of the original material was horrendous. As the next cycle in the book series (book '8'), it just gave the fans nothing, and didn't explain anything to the newcomers. They also showed the best part of the film in trailers.

On a better note, I really enjoyed The Shape of Water, as well as Blade Runner. I enjoyed Thor and Guardians 2, but just like every other Marvel film, it didn't wow me because its just like every other Marvel film.

The only movies I saw in theaters this year were Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spiderman, Thor, Justice League, IT, and The Last Jedi. So my year hasn't been too diverse. But they were all good except Thor which I loved, Justice League which I think was bad, and The Last Jedi which I don't hate but was let down by.

I have more available time for a few months and have been catching up on a ton of movies so maybe my opinions will change.

In the case of something like Blade Runner, I would like it to have done better commercially because i feel like it really deserved it and I want everyone who worked on it to get the recognition I feel like they deserve. Then again, I'm not gonna start screaming at the internet because it didn't make as much money as Star Wars or Thor.
