Not accusing Bruce of being homophobic or anything, it's very clear that he's an open and accepting guy, but I do think he's full of it saying that guys enjoying anal penetration is inherently gay. I would say Lawrence's hypothetical situation (having sex with a masculine android) would clearly be a homosexual action because the intent is to emulate sex with a dude. I think intent matters here. If a guy is putting something in his butt because he likes the way it feels physically, that's different than if a guy puts something in his butt because he likes to emulate having sex with another man.

The logical extension of Bruce's opinion is that you have to partake in anal penetration to be gay, which many gay men don't. The idea that anal sex is a homosexual act is quite archaic and should really be done away with.

I have to disagree with the idea that games should put some sort of warning that they may or may not be addictive. Games naturally should be addictive because they should keep you coming back. The same could be said for any type of media, like TV shows. The biggest difference, I feel, between traditional addiction and addiction, like gambling, alcohol, of drugs, and addiction to media is that the addiction itself is what hurts you; with drinking and drugs, it affects your health and with gambling, it affects your income. "Addiction" to media more than anything, affects your ability to do other things. This is the same reason procrastination is a thing. People prefer the instant gratification of the internet to actually doing things. I could 100% imagine Bethesda using this lawsuit as positive PR for their game's addictiveness and I could 100% imagine this drawing more people in.

I know women can have a lot of different opinions and we don't all agree with each other. Thing is, we don't get to see that on your shows because they're overwhelmingly male.

If a guy is like, "Well, this is my experience," people seem to get that he doesn't speak for everyone, but if we're talking about women/poc/etc, people seem quick to mention that person doesn't speak for everyone in that group. I KNOW one woman doesn't speak for all women; it's kind of a given. That doesn't mean you can't have a woman talk about her personal experiences or in general have more women talking.

Over the last few years there have been a number of instances where groups of men talk about women, ironically, with no women present. It just gets old seeing men everywhere all the time and so few women, or so little diversity in general.

I appreciate that you DO seem to care about women and women's perspectives. I know you're a lot better than a lot of other people online, however, I still feel like you need to make more of an effort to include more women in the content you make.

I agree with your entire statement, but I also would like to add that the reason I personally am frustrated with it now as opposed to before is that before, we didn't have a choice. Funhaus used to be seven men. Now we have an option! There is a woman there! Put her in things that pertain to women! We're smart enough to know that they don't represent all men, why does Bruce assume we would think Elyse speaks for all women?

Imposing a gender quota will not work for several reasons. For one, that would be literally hiring and shoehorning in people purely because of their gender. Inclusion based on gender is worse than exclusion based on skills/talent/personality/etc. It is creating sexism, not removing it.

Second, Funhaus has never claimed to be objective, impartial, or even fair, really. They often try to be, but they don't make they promise because they know it's not something can or even want to guarantee. This is a just a group of people making content that they want to make. Some things they can't make because it won't get enough views, but that's really the only major factor that seems to influence them other than their own desires. They have zero obligation to hire more women just as you have no obligation to watch their content. So they do not need to do anything. Hell, if I were to complain that the Frag Dolls didn't have enough men, people would tell me to fuck off. And while that might be a bit rude, they would have a point. Content producers don't really owe you anything (unless you've paid for something that they promised, and they didn't deliver it). If they want to be successful, then they do have to produce content people will watch. But it's actually far easier to make content that certain demographics like than some universally loved content that has a perfectly diverse audience. If that were an obtainable goal, most content would be designed that way.

I guess what yall are hung up on is the idea that men are talking about women. So I would have to ask: would you prefer that groups of guys don't discuss gender issues, or do? That's not a loaded question, it's genuine and your answer may be "no". It may be true that having a discussion about women without any women participating in that discussion might not be the most comprehensive discussion ever, but I think it's equally silly to say "you aren't allowed to talk about a group of people unless a member of that group is present". I don't think many people here would have a problem about a group of atheists talking about Christians with no Christians to speak their side, for example. In fact, I know that from the forums on the site.

The only problem I can see to have is that you're concerned that when it's just men talking about it, they will get things wrong more than a group of women would, and that the audience will accept what they have said as the truth. But, apart from the fact that that assumes people will accept their word as truth, it's also an unavoidable problem. Maybe audiences will be influenced. But I would argue that having the right to discuss whatever you want is actually more important. I really do understand the other side to this, because they aren't entirely wrong, but ultimately I just think allowing completely open discussion is more important.

And finally, you know Elyse isn't their slave, right? If she really wanted to, I'm guessing she could come on and talk about all that. As it happens, she had already left, and they just happened into that discussion. Elyse isn't just her gender- she's also a person. I think she can decide for herself those kinds of things, and I don't think any of the guys are going to say "no, woman, we're not going to allow you to speak when we're talking about women!"

Well, okay that is EXACTLY the kind of thing they would say, as a satirical joke (like in this one when Elyse asked for permission to go the bathroom. And they said no. It's not like they're doing this behind her back. She has a voice. Maybe she doesn't want to do every thing that you want her to want to do.).

I understand what you are saying, but bringing up gender issues and then turning to the only woman in the room and expecting her to answer is a form of tokenism and can put a lot of pressure on her.

That said, I agree with your comments about diversity and the general sentiment.

i feel indywolf's comment was in response to what FH said about people judging Stat Wars Battlefront based off the beta. So i think he was trying to make them eat their own words in a way?

I actually feel the opposite of the person who said it was frustrating to watch dudes talk about how women might feel with no women in this particular context. Well generally I think more women should be in most things and you should always have a woman discuss issues pertaining to her, if you have a situation like that, I think its better to try and discuss possible view points rather than have no discussion and dismiss it completely. Funhaus has a large dude audience and maybe seeing other men thoughtfully consider what a woman could be feeling could be beneficial.

personally as a person who is a woman, i feel like the way you talk about women is pretty good. what some people need to understand is that it's usually hard to get your point through on the internet without sounding like an asshole regardless of gender, and again the internet will always misinterpret everything and freak out about nothing.
