Hey any hope of your sorry ass showing at RT Ireland? smiley0.gif

Oh cool, that'd be awesome. It's in Leicester, right? I know a guy (from the site) who goes to college in Leicester, but he says he wasn't able to go last year because it's usually during the summer and he goes home then, haha

Hit me up when you know more. smiley12.gif

Well hey, word on the digital street is the RT UK event is in the later half of this year and it'd be killer to go with you if you're up for it.

      • Neil

Not sure. Honestly, the number one thing on my mind is getting my knee sorted and getting back to work as soon as possible. I was hoping to go to Belgium in the summer, but now that might need to change. smiley4.gif

That's fucked man, we may try meeting up during the summer when you're feeling more spry. smiley8.gif

You thinkin' of heading to any other events this year?

I doubt it, man. My next appointment is on Thursday. Hopefully I'll get the knee-brace off, but I'd say I'll hardly be able to walk. smiley2.gif

      You're a wrestling fan my man...watching CHIKARA?

      • Neil

I do love the idea of Chikara and I've enjoyed many matches on YouTube over the past couple of years, I just never really knew how to engage. Cheers for the link!

It was actually amazing, I'd advise reading THIS which takes you up to two years ago then there will be a storyline update for the time since then until No Compromise, which is then followed by the Ashes of Chikara video series...

To be honest there is a wee bit of reading but it's totally worth getting into Chikara!

      • Neil

Sadly I'm not, but only because I don't know how one would go about watching Chikara. I do know this is the huge return after ten years worth of planning!

I wanna say I recognise you from somewhere but I don't wanna freak ya out either smiley4.gif . Did you go to Maynooth or am I WAY off?

      • DeadlyFrogs

Ah yeah! It is a beautiful oul campus and I've met some sound lads there! And apparently I've met some common interest lads fro there, who were in my class and in my course for 3 years and I never knew until this week so...........yeah. Good guy Maynooth got yo back!

      • Neil

There was a point in second year where I wanted to transfer to UCD, but apparently in order to actually "get" your degree from a college you have to do more than half of your course there. This was a little bit into second semester of second year, so I had just missed my opportunity. I ended up being so happy I stayed though.

      • DeadlyFrogs

Yeah I'm the exact same! I've had my ups and downs with it. At one point I hated it and didn't wanna keep going back , but I stuck it out and I'm so glad I did. And I'm really happy I decided to do my postgrad there, while a change of scenery woulda been nice, it was good to go back and do something I was really really passionate about ya know? smiley13.gif

      • Neil

I said this to some of my friends over the summer. I didn't really care about leaving primary school for secondary school and I didn't care about leaving secondary school for college. I just took it in my stride and accepted it. But now, I legitimately do miss Maynooth. I had my qualms with it in the three years I was there, but I'm ultimately happy I decided to go there. There's just something about it.

      • DeadlyFrogs

It absolutly does man! This is my official last year there now! Woo, its exciting!

      • Neil

Oh yeah, I knew a few people who had him and they all said he was brilliant. Ah man, I'm really starting to miss that place already. I even miss the library! I actually really liked the new one, I went there all the time to do work. I still remember hearing about the plans for an extension back when we were in first year... three years ago now. Time flies.

      • DeadlyFrogs

Ah yeah they are. You must have a passion for it dude. I was so done with it by the end. I did learn loads from it though. My favourite lecturer was Alister Frazer and his 2nd year module! I had him again in 3rd year, but the 2nd year one was WAY better.

      • Neil

Ah Sarah! I know her! I did groupwork with her in the second year compulsory modules with the computers (GY201 and GY202). Sound girl. I actually found the Crisis module to be very interesting, though it was a bit heavy at times. Again, fantastic lecturers. Maynooth's Geography department really is great.

      • DeadlyFrogs

I was in that for a week and changed haha....Way too depressing. I knew we were in a recession and the first lecture your man just kept going on and on about how awful it was haha. I had a friend in that one though. Sarah Barry?

      • Neil

Yeah, I'm having a few ideas now. Hindsight really is 20/20. I'm interested to know what other Geography modules you did, we could have sat beside each other way more than we think, haha. Geographies of the Crisis (third year)?

      • DeadlyFrogs

That woulda been CLASS! A bunch a lads and lassies sitting there watching the Minecraft LP or whatever and having a few bevs or something!

Yeah I did the same with Fails, I came in at around the 60/70 mark I wanna say and then I just went back and watched so many of them! Still makes me laugh smiley1.gif

It actually woulda been 2011 when I stumbled across Fails of the Weak. Got a bit confused there haha.... Yeah I got real big into multiplayer in 2010 when college started and then about a year after that then I found RT. Life hasn't been the same since *sheds tear.

I just explained to a friend on Facebook how you asked me if you recognised me from Maynooth and I told him how I now regret never thinking to establish a "Rooster Teeth Society". He asked "what would that society actually do though?" "Same thing as every media-based society. Watch the content and drink!" haha

I don't really have a linear path with watching RvB. I'm pretty sure I watched the first five seasons back in '09 (when season 7 was released). Then when season 10 was coming out, I watched from season 7 onward and then got up to date.

Now that you mention it, I think Fails of the Weak might have been the reason I started regularly watching Achievement Hunter videos. I remember even going back and watching most, if not all, the previous Fails videos up until that point!

      • DeadlyFrogs

Only got my own laptop in 2010 when I started in Maynooth. I remember seeing an episode of RvB like years and years ago! It was the scene when someone gets stuck in the head with a plasma right on top of the base, like season 1 or 2?? I never looked into it or started watching cause we didn;t have a decent computer, and then when we did, I wasn;t allowed on it haha. But I only stumbled across Fails of the Weak in 2010 and thought to myself,"Man....these guys are gas and they seem really sound" and it just went from there! I started watching RvB from the start just before season 10 was launched and started the profile to get rid of the ads and immediatly regretted not knowing about RT sooner! ITs SO GOOD! I've gotten to know some guys on here that I wouldn't know otherwise and it made me start my own Youtube channel as a result haha.
It's always hard to know if someone s a an RT fan, cause they know all about them or Nothing at all! Thats why I'm not surpirse there wasn't a soc in Maynooth. It woulda been SO cool though if there was. It woulda been one I actually went to if I had joined it lol smiley4.gif

      • Neil

Well if you want to go way back, I was first shown a Rooster Teeth video around 2006 / 2007 - "Real Life vs The Internet". I had no idea what Red vs Blue even was at the time. Eventually I heard about it and started watching it around '08 / '09. Soon after I started first year in Maynooth (2010) I started watching Achievement Hunter videos and made the connection.

I eventually signed up for the site just for the craic, really. I regret not making it sooner, I seem like such a rookie only having made it in 2013, haha.

It's a pity there was no Rooster Teeth Society in Maynooth. If I could go back and do my undergrad all over again, I'd definitely try and set one up. It really is way more popular than I imagined, I'd say there are way more RT fans around that campus!

        How about yourself?

      • DeadlyFrogs

He was brilliant I'll give him that. I was fed up with Arts by the end of 2nd year though, which is why I'v made the change to IT. I knew I recognised ya!! I'm almost certain ya sat in front of me once or twice! Its mad that we're talking to each other through the RT site. What got ya in to it ?

      • Neil

Regional Planning and Development? Well I was definitely there! Yeah, I did three of his modules across second and third year. Absolutely top-class lecturer.

      • DeadlyFrogs

I had one of his third year ones.........In that shit little room in the Arts Block with that entire wall made of windows haha, Hall F or something. It was on like Urban Development or something yeah?
Did I see ya in that?

      • Neil

Aye, you probably did! Did you do any of Chris van Egeraat's modules in second or third year?

      • DeadlyFrogs

Nichola Salmon? It was the geography of tourism or something to that effect. We absolutely woulda spoken to each other if we were in That together! See I knew I knew ya from college, like more than just seeing ya around campus haha.

Haha, yeah I am. Still find it strange you went to Maynooth and were in Arts. What subjects did you do?

      • DeadlyFrogs

Yeah, I've gone back this year to do a Hdip in IT. SO MUCH BETTER. Never liked Arts myself. Your doing a masters or something right? I'll be honest I had a lazy snoop i.e I know your doing a masters, but I'm too lazy to check)

Haha, I haven't had much time on my laptop or Xbox because of work and getting ready for college. Hopefully we get in a few games of Halo soon or something. Did you get Payday 2 yet? I still don't have it, sadly.

He doesn't actually! Grado is probably the most popular member of the roster but there's so much variety and other wrestlers that the crowd in general nearly love everyone

      • Neil

I love that Grado uses "Like a Prayer" as his entrance music, haha

Does he ever get on the mic at the end of an event and pander to the crowd or further entertain them? haha

      • Neil

I knew someone on this site was telling me about ICW before! That's been racking my brain for ages, haha

      • TheDanEffect FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold Nerf This!

Sound plan dude, ICW is a 18+ promotion that generally lives up to the Insane in the title, really heavily story driven at times but the channel here uploads it's own 'show' featuring matches from cards, promos, there's a full show from last July on there. It's even been featured in a VICE documentary called The British Wrestler (in which myself and my flatmate get a brief appearance in!)

Trying not to gush over it, but I really can't say enough about those guys

I'd love to have the capability to travel to Indy shows around the country. Ireland isn't that big, but finding the locations can be a pain... and I don't have a car! haha

And cool, I'll look that up on YouTube when I get the chance. Cheers!

Nice one man! I totally agree with the WWE thoughts right now, it's bloody good fun for most of the shows, an outright highlight each week for myself & my flatmate

Although the undisputed wrestling highlight the now is the monthly follow to our local indy to stand ringside, if you are aware of ICW in Glasgow just now, that's where we'll be (If not, get to youtube!)

      • Neil

Pretty big, yes. I've watched since about 1996. I boycotted the WWE between the years of 2008 and 2010 (I was a TNA mark), then I couldn't deal with TNA anymore so I went back to watch the WWE and I didn't hate it anymore.

I'm not always a cynic though, I'm currently loving the WWE's product. Shield, Cesaro, Ziggler, Big E, Bryan, Del Rio, Christian, Van Dam, and I'm even a Cena fan! haha

I do keep in touch with some Indy wrestling and I've been making a bigger effort lately to actually watch more of it on the internet.

        How about you?

I don't think the structure of the final season helped Matt Smith's status as The Doctor. It was split into two halves and each half with its own mini-story, whereas all the seasons before have a big climactic ending that had been building up over the course of the entire season.

I begrudgingly accept David Tennant as my "favourite Doctor". He's just too good!

      • LostInSweden

I only started with Eccleston too. he's one of my favorite, but nothing beats Tennant! Not that hot on Matt Smith though. Must admit I'm actually quite behind since I was so disappointing when they switched to him..=/

      • Neil

Like most other fans I only started watching since Christopher Eccleston was the Doctor. Unlike most other fans, I only started watching it late last year and binged on them whenever I could, haha.

Not sure what to make of the new Doctor yet, I guess we'll have to wait and see!
