Hello there if you're stumbling onto this profile due to me being today's Featured User.
I'm Newbs, and I used to use this site a ton back before the site changes from two or so years ago. I was a moderator for the site for approximately three months or so, watched a ton of movies with friends over XBL Netflix Party Chat (REMEMBER WHEN THAT WAS A THING OMG), ran and participated in a ton of different contests with the community, played a myriad of games during game nights and helped run and organize RT MN and Rooster Rumble for many years.
Currently I am an Admin with Rooster Speak, a great group of folks who use Teamspeak for their main source of communication.
If you find yoursef wanting to chat with fools that like things, give em a shot will ya? That group is a main reason why I've been on this site and consider myself a community member to this day. Heck, today even marks the 6 year anniversary of the group being made by yours truly. I'm very lucky to have this server and friend group in my life.
I have attended every Austin, TX RTX and plan to be there this year as a PA Guardian for the third year in a row. I'll openly admit that if I wasn't working the convention, I likely wouldn't be attending it as a public entrant due to my lack of interest in panels/conventions dissipating.
Personal life wise, I work as a soils/structural engineer for a firm up in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. I essentially get to play with soil all day and I love it. I'm currently training for my second marathon happening in October, play guitar as often as I can trying to learn techniques even though I'm not in a band, and am also saving money to buy a house this year hopefully!
In all honesty, if this FU had happened a few years ago I'd be more excited. The state of this website on the community aspect seems to have been abandoned from an outside perspective, and I truly miss how this site was back in the day. It was unique and amazingly welcoming when compared to most social media sites at the time and in the present. I feel like I have made so many close friends over my time here on the site due to those features, but alas those features seem to have faded away and replaced. I may sound like an old man complaining about how things used to be...but it hurts to see what has appeared to have happened to the site.
On a positive note, the friends that I've met along the way through this site and from going to conventions...I will gladly be stuck with them for the rest of my life. Unless I fuck things up but I hope I never do!
Anywho, thanks for the FU well wishes, and if you're gonna be at RTX this year let me know! I want to meet ya!
