      Hi all,

      How are you doing?

I'm doing great! Thanks for asking!

So, it's been a while since I last posted. I've been lurking watching content, occasionally commenting and generally watching you awesome people just do your thang!

Basically, tomorrow marks my first day as a teacher. Like, I actually have responsibility over young people and have to wear a suit and everything!

So in preparation I have been watching content (Which has ramped up somewhat in the last few months) and generally been trying to get my head around the fact that I am adulting finally. Really an adult with adult things - although I still lack a dog - but one day i will have a friend!

      That's it really.

Hope that you're all having a good time at the tail end of 2016. It's been a difficult year, harambe and all!

      Take care tucker

    • Jalnor asked shumble91 a question

Wait, when did you end up in Wolverhampton?! Is that where you're from? I lived there almost a year and probably never saw you!

      Answered: May 24, 2016

I have only been there since September, moving away in August though!

It has taken me a long while to finally get round to finishing Volume 3... and Gray wasn't joking when he said that it was going to get very dark!

Jeeez, I honestly didn't expect it to take those turns!!

    • Anyone else suffering from content fatigue?

      shumble91 Scientists of RT

I don't think that I am the only one feeling a bit of fatigue from the sheer amount of content released through RT/AH now? Well mostly AH I think.

GTA Lets Plays are pretty much just playing the same few games with the things to do pretty much let's play's in their own right. GO and Hunt just seem to have been replaced with generic Let's plays .

Maybe it's weird but I think that I preferred when you'd get a few let's plays, GO!, Hunt and maybe a few Thing's to do. More actual Achievement/collectible guides would be super, especially as they were the original reason I started watching AH and I still use them now when replaying Halo.

The hockey league is a nice thing to mix it up but I don't think that I am enjoying myself as much as I used to. Even Minecraft feels like a bit of a chore, but I think that i would love to maybe see mine craft and GTA once a fortnight perhaps with a lighter tone. Just get some of that fun feeling back. Seems like a lot of pressure to make content, but i'd rather a day or maybe BTS stuff or just nothing. I don't think it's bad to have a break. Even TV shows have mid-season.

It might be a symptom of adulting and having a real job etc, but my humor and what I like hasn't changed that much! Part of the reason why I have been so absent from the site for the last few months.

I get that people will say, "But you don't have to watch all of it.". And that is true, but so much of the humor from both AH and RT is self referential and I have noticed several times when I just straight up wont get a reference to a previous video.

I don't know whether it may also have something to do with all of these new partnerships and collaborations... they've all come at once!

As much as I love the ethos of the company and the people that I see on a regular basis, I am getting tired and this makes me super sad.

Soil science is more to do with remediation technology, although I am applying for PhD's looking at landslide hazard mapping.

Aye, it takes a certain personality to make it offshore.
What's Soil Science like? Did you think of doing IPG?

OMFG I have met so many other scientists this week (I've met 1 physicist, 2 chemists and 4 biologists)! So... what kind of geology/geography are you interested in? I have a BS in Geology and a BSE in Biology, working in Environmental.

Yeah... Ireland is a fair way away! :P I have my masters sorted now anyway so will do that and see what happens. But planetary geomorph would be such an interesting field!

When I graduated, I didn't apply to anything. Now, I realize the value in just TRYING! Go for it! I may as well, but that would be a more distant commitment for me. :/

I was looking at that one as well. If I had the relevant research experience I would consider it very much!

That is what I hope to get into. Remediation of melting permafrost regions.

No worries, I like hearing about other fields of science. I used to do geomorph and glacial in undergrad as well, but I'm more of a mineralogy/igneous petrology type. Most of what I do for a living is in remediation of soils and buildings, so most of my practical experience is in engineering geology. I'm hoping to return to school for a masters in planetary geology.

Hahaha, that's pretty awesome! I am quite fond of geomorphology and glaciology. I like Geology because of the field work and basically how everything is intrinsically linked in one big system. Kind of beautiful in its own way!
I am doing a masters in Soil Science at the University of Aberdeen and that revolves around mostly environmental issues and engineering problems. My favourite aspect is the engineering issues surrounding changes in hydrology and freezing of soils on its structure (Done my dissertation on that!) I am not too much of a fan with the ecology side of soil science though.

Sorry for the long ass reply! smiley6.gif
